I just got my new '05 SRW 3500 LLY, and I was wondering how long a guy should drive his truck stock before and tweaking or upgrades? And would the Predator be ok for a stock truck or do I have to do any other modifications for the predator to work properly, also would it hurt a stock trucks tranny, turbo or anything else? Mostly use truck for plowing snow, hauling different loads for lanscaping and of course towing my Nitro bass boat.

Thanks for any info,
James

Every thing you just mentioned that you use your truck for is something a 1500 can do. But like I always say better to have than the to wish you had.
I personly would wait about 1000 miles before putting high power addtions on. When I say high power I mean 90hp+. There are alot of others that can make more power and you would need to modify the tranny then.
If you go with the Preditor you probably will be ok on a #2 setting for now. But the reason I say to wait is not just for the added power, it is also to brake in the truck correctly. No heavy loads for atleast 500 miles.
Some of the items I recomend when you get the added power or at the time of the 1000 miles mark is to get some addtional gauges, like the boost and EGT. Also change the fluids through out your truck. Brake in periods will produce metal particles in the engine as well as in your tranny, transfer case, and both rear and front diffs.
Wait about 5000 to 10,000 miles befor switching over to synthetic oil in the engine.
And as for the Preditor hurting the tranny (this would be the only item it could damage), yes it can limp the tranny on the higher settings and it does not have protection into it. The EDGE or Banks systems do. Look into them also if you have not.

I waited 680 miles before the new exhaust and intake were done. 755 miles and the Edge was done. Just how it worked out for me.

Now at 23500 miles

Thanks for the replys guys most of the advice is what I was figuring on, I guess I will just use some common sense, which is what I used when I decided to buy the truck in the first place, lol. Like they say, its not to much its just more than your use too!!

Thanks
James
