I went to put a jeep on a 1 car trailer and the trailor came off the hitch and went straight up in the air! the jeep was only on the end of the trailor and we pulled t off and now the rear axle (2 axle trailor) is steady off the ground. Could it be e equilizer? I was thinking to chock the first axle and back it up and see if it would release it? any ideas?

Sounds like the spring purchase between the forward axle rear leaf and the spring second forward purchase is seized up .

Are you sure you've got a big enough ball on the hitch?
When I was a teenager, I hooked up a trailer to a hitch with too small of a ball and that bastard popped right off and scared the hell out of me.
I now have bigger balls. :D

Did the same thing when I was younger, not really having the "bigger" ball but the "RIGHT" one does help in hooking up a trailer

rear shackle flipped, drive pull it around empty over some bumps and it should flip back on it's own. this happens to my buddies trailer all the time because we don't use the ramps to load our wheeling trucks.
Did the trailer hitch come off the ball on the tow vehicle, or is this a trailer axle problem...

actually both happened. Well I had a high lift jack in the the truck so i just jacked it up on the spring purchase and in two pumps it snapped backed down. So that worked. Wifes not too happy with the tail gate though. Anyone know were I can get a replacement?

Ouch! Start browsing on car part.com Might just be cheaper to get yours fixed though.
