Man, I hope I don't get roasted for asking this question.......
I can't see how the wiper arms release to hold the blades away from the window. I know they must, but it doesn't appear that the stop will allow it.
Be nice..........;)

Zaza - are you asking if you can pull the arms forward to "flip up" the blades? One my 01 you could do it, the arms would hinge...The new ones you can't..... Makes scraping ice a real PITA

Has anybody tried to "modify" the wipers so they can stay up? Like slightly trimming the metal back so it will go up

Do any of the previous years 'flip up' arms retrofit?

If my memory has not failed me (short term is not good), on the '01 I had, the washer fluid was sprayed on to the windshield from some jet device that was mounted thru the hood. The wipers could be brought to a verticle position and stayed "up" so to speak. The new wipers have a wet arm where the washer fluid is sprayed out thru plumbing in the wiper arm. Sort of think the wiper arm was made with limited motion so the plumbing connection would stay intact. Old system worked plenty good. The new system is a PIA for scraping or cleaning the windscreen.

I would say, maybe find some wiper arms off an earlier truck, say 97-00. They had the tubing in the arm for the spray and I believe they stayed up. I will check at a used car lot that has one in stock, test it out and such. Then if appears to be of same caliber, I am sure we can find a replacement wiper arm somewhere. Just have to check size differences of blades.

these companies really have their head up their a**es...they cant get stuff right..like wetting the widshield before the wiper makes a pass..or better yet on my last truck, you turn the wipers off and it makes another pass....now you got me started....42ooo dollar truck, 25 gallon tank....how stupidly cheap can you get ??its no wonder we keep losing marketshare...here come the new honda truck..if we lose the market, its cuz we dont deserve it..later

My old 86 was like that and I did not like the way they had them in the wipers. It's like they are either going old school on alot of things or something. I hope someone figures some modification up.

I just wish the wiper would stay on the windshield at 75mph

sorry all, i forgot to post my findings.

i was at a lot and it appears that they changed the wiper arms after 02. if you find some arms for an 01 or 02, they will work, even if it is a 1500 series. they have the same washer fluid dispenser in the wiper.

so if you want ones that will stay up, for scraping and cleaning, this may be a way to go. I am sure we should be able to find wiper arms for those year trucks.

Hi, just about the first thing I did when I got my new 04.5 was replace the wiper arms with the 03. They fit perfect and flip up, not more snagging the gas station window washer sponge on the driver side wiper arm!!!:ro)

Aint it interesting how GM is going backwards? The are doing away with Quadra Steer, make crappy WS Wipers, Claim more power in LLY, Worse MPG's. Let's see, The Information center provides MUCH less information than in the LB7, and they want to sell new trucks? There are times I wish I kept my 2003 LB7

If you had on '03 with wipers that would flip up out of the way, you were lucky. I have an '03 and my wipers don't do that.

I guess I can't be sure if they are 03 wiper arms...I went to the parts counter and told them that I wanted arms that locked upwards. They claimed they sold me 03 arms, but i am sure the guy works for minimum wage.:D

Can't flip the blades on my '03 either. Why do I have to go and spend more $$ to fix what should be standard?
GM are you listening? This is only common sense! We need wiper arms that are hinged and will temporarily remian upright off the glass ....like for cleaning and for ice and snow removal. Do the designers and developers ever drive these vehicles?
Small consolation to see I'm not the only one who is ticked off.

its the american way...invent, refine, start all over again by redesigning...mess it all up...later
