Obviously, it is winter time so how come when i get in my truck and hit the auto climate button to turn on the heat with the temp set on 72 degrees the little snowflake always comes on - which means my A/C compressor is turning on. Are you suppose to run your A/C compressor with the heater or am i doing something wrong. Kinda sounds like a stupid question but i wouldn't think you would want to wear out the compressor if there is no need for it to be on.

For what it's worth...
Defrost does require AC compressor, so it is not out of the question to have the compressor run in the winter. However... I too have seen that *, and not necesarily just when running the defrost. IIRC, I've simply pushed the * button, it turned the * off.

Couple weeks ago myself and two other skiers got into my truck after being out in frozen rain and we had ALOT of ice and water on us. I cranked up the heater with the AC on and by the time we got home, about an hour later everything was basically dry. It seems to dry out the inside of the truck pretty well which is why they would use it for the defrost.
