Sorry for a non engine question but how difficult is it to change the Hub assemblies on the front end of a 4x4 The dealer diagnosed it for me while doing other work. What did you guys pay for your hubs?

No biggie. I got hub assemblies from Rock Auto I believe, still costly. They unbolt from the knuckle at the back with 4 bolts (IIRC). Then you gotta remove the rotors, or do like I did and get new ones (or Brembo's). I replaced the wheel studs and nuts too while at it.

I just completely re-built my from end. I thought it was a $#*! of a job. A simple brake job led to a complete rebuild. I am glad I rebuilt everything and hope I do not have to do it again.

new rotors, hubs, rebuilt CV joints, new calipers, new polyurathane bushings for upper and lower control arms and sway bar, new upper and lower ball joints, and finally, all new tie rod ends. One I go started it was the thing of, well, if I do this, I might as well do this......

The dealer charged me $600 for the hubs, but them come with new rotors... Oh boy... A real rip-off, but I needed the work done and didn't have the time to do it myself.

they had to do the bearings on my drivers hub as it was grinding. when the dealer (GM) told me i was looking at 1500.00 for it i started laughing and he said you don't seem upset. i just said upset, why would i be upset, the WARRANTY is paying for it. i paid 1000.00 for the warranty when i bought the truck used. sure as heck paid for itself. also had a few smaller issues fixed like glow plugs and stuff. THATS what Im conused about they gave me the part #'s for the hub assemblies $650.00 each.I have seen after market for 250.00 -400.00 nothing says anything about if rotors are included so I am assuming no. Still not sure which way Im gonna go.Then while its apart should do anything else I plan on doing shocks and Timbrens.I am also told that I need studs.
