: what else can I do?

I raised my torsion bars practically to the bottom and added some shock extensions to my shocks. I did all this to clear my 22x10 mazzi hulks on 305-40 wanli's (all terrian). My question is is there anthing else I can do to get a better ride? It BOUNCES like crazy...I didn't think that adding a leveling kit would do much more. I was wondering if a longer shock or just some better shocks (my are stock) would make any difference.

Longer and better shocks... even then it'll ride like crap because you took all the travel out of the suspension and raised the effective spring rate

This is the problem with raising Torsion Bars. There is a limit, which when passed, ride gets terrible. If you maxxed out your TB's, your shocks are way to short, plus like gator said, you've taken all the down travel out of your system. You should have a minimum of 3/4" of space between your UCA's and the metal bump stop. It's located on the frame, towards the rear of the UCA. Norcal Nick has a good writeup on this if you haven't read it. 2" max on the lift will be okay, 1.5" will be pretty much unnoticeable from stock. I trimmed my truck to fit my wheel/tires, and lifted minimally, because the ride would have been bad if I maxxed out the TB's to clear. You need something like Cognito's UCA's if you want to max out the TB's and still have a nice ride. Chris

This should be a sticky and a copy given to every guy (or gal) who leaves the GM lot with a D/A and also a copy should be given at the DMV to the new owner when a D/A changes hands.

I hadn't seen it. I'm going to try to make it. Maybe kill to birds with one stone. My sister is having a baby (as I'm typing this), and she lives in Walnut Creek, so if I get a chance to see my new niece next weekend, I'll try to cruz by on may way home. Is it at your shop?

Really the point is not maxed keys/cranked .... the issue comes from the UCA topping out to fast on the frame stop. So you can have maxed keys and as long as the space is there for the UCA to drop out before hitting the frame stop the ride will be fine. The problem with lift keys is that most of the time you don't need them and to a install that doesn't know what to look for to maintain the ride you get a over preloaded truck (self project the problem). I say lift keys are not needed most of the time because on alot of the 06 and newer GM trucks you can get enough lift/pre-load out of the stockers to put you in that threshold of acceptable ride quality.

Remember you have 2 items that will set all trucks apart. Torsion bars and adjustment keys. On 05 and older we have seen many truck that we can adjust the factory keys and still have a fare amount of drop out travel available. What does this mean? On those trucks you can use a re-indexed key that allows for more adjust ability and get alittle more pre-load/lift and still be OK. We have seen on 06-up truck we rarely need lift keys to adjust enough pre-load to put you in that area of adjustment that makes your truck ride bad. So that means many 06-up owners don't need to buy and "lift key" to obtain the desired lift that falls within the threshold of a great riding truck.

I will add that adding a longer shock or extender must be done due to the OEM shock limiting the travel and reducing the ride when adding pre-load/lift to the front end of your Chevy/GM truck.
