: Injector Rate Balancing With Predator And EGT's
ronadijcks 02-03-2005, 04:41 PM Hey all,
I am curious, and trying to get smart regarding my D-Max!!! ANd I don't have near the knowledge some of you :cool2: have regarding these Engines...
I need your :help: please!
AT IDLE....
When checking my Balance Rates, I have one cylinder (#7)at Positive 3.54mm Balancing AND another (#8) at a Negative 2.24mm Balancing. And then everything in-between. Is this normal?
AND THEN...
Engine off and key on, it says minus 0.82mm. On acceleration or with pedal, it reads the same minus 0.82mm.
I will need to go back to stock to see if there are any drastic differences, and if so, do I have a problem? I really don' t understand this part of it all.
Set to level 2 at this time.
Trying to learn...
McRat 02-03-2005, 04:42 PM I was told that readings under 4 are acceptable.
ratlover 02-03-2005, 04:49 PM Are you testing em with your truck all up to temp, no accesories on, letting it idel for a bit in p and then pushing the pedal to the floor till you hear the booster screaming for mercy? Then trying the same in D? That is the procedure isnt it guys?
Dont mattter if you have a box or not turned on.
heartbeatcanada 02-03-2005, 05:59 PM Make sure truck is up to temp and test them in park while idling. Readings like yours are in the ballpark. I think gm just raised it to 5 or 6 to be acceptable, but i'm not 100% sure. If you put the truck in drive while idling(with foot on brake, obviously) you will see your rates higher than when in park, this is normal.
With the predator on, and your truck actually driving it will always read 0.82, until you stop and they settle down. It shouldn't matter if your predator has a tune loaded or not, it "should" read the same.
Drive her like you stole her, as its all normal
ronadijcks 02-03-2005, 06:17 PM Completely warmed up. Revved high then let settle down, etc..
It seems the range is a wide one. But, I guess as long as it runs):h
I do notice a certain amount of surge while at highway speeds, and some slipping as well as hunting from the Tranny.
Also, I JUST bought my Predator, and several of the fuses they say to pull are not in either of the Fuse Blocks:confused:   . So, under the hood, I pulled the Radio, Info, Radio Amp, and left everything else alone. In the side panel I pulled only TBC ACCY. As stated, none of the others mentioned in the manual were in the truck. :badidea:
I have a feeling I got a LLY module, with a LB7 Manual:mad:   . I say this becuase there is NO mention of the LLY in the manual at all, yet, the LB7 is referenced. Pretty lousy, considering the cost of these trucks, and if a mistake is made, we are the ones who are ^%#%$#U :blahblah: :exactly:

I got my Predator last night. It had a sheet slipped in the manual with LLY fuse instructions. I pulled the Radio, Info, and Radio Amp like it said and nothing else. There are 4 that are in the fuse block inside the cab that are if your truck is equipped with Onstar. They were not noted on the LLY sheet. I had not trouble when just pulling those 3 fuses.

Which four fuses would they be? I never did get my on star light to go out.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/help2.gif
lakingslayer 02-12-2005, 11:41 AM Remember to remove fuses with the ignition key "off"
These are the fuses that the "Duramax LLY addition to manual" told me to pull.
Radio, Radio amp, and info.
The ONSTAR instructions in the manual states "To disable the OnSTAR system, please refer to your owners manual to locate the fuse(s) associated with the OnStar. The OnStar system is disabled when the OnStar light is not lit.
On some vehicles it is necessary to remove more than one fuse; this will be indicated by the OnStar light still lit after moval of the fuse from the engine compartment fuse panel."
The fuse box under the hood the predator manual says with the ignition "off" remove the SEO 1 fuse, and one fuse labeled INFO (the INFO fuse should have been done on the above step).
Turn the ignition to "on" and confirm that the OnStar dash light is off. If it is on turn the ignition to "off" and continue.
Fuse panel inside the cab locate the SEO IGN, RAP2, RDO1, TBC ACCY fuses and remove them.
Verify that the OnStar light is now off with the ignition "on".
This is what the manual says to do. I hope this helps. I do not have OnStar so I do not have any personal experience with this procedure. Maybe someone else here has more info.
Good luck.
McRat 02-12-2005, 11:50 AM The ones I pull are:
Info
Radio/Amp
And 2 marked SEO
All are in the right lower quardrant. Haven't had problems with them pulled. Have had some problems if I leave them in, especially with the Bully Dog/PPE. Problems with the Predator are less common, but still scary. Like the programmer saying the upload is bad, when in fact it's not.
There is something to be said for swapping PCM's, like the TTS LLY tunes. Fast and painless.:D
gtguy67 02-12-2005, 03:25 PM I usually just pull the onstar fuse on the inside fuse block. I used some white touch up paint on the fuse blocks to identify the fuses so that I don't have to look it up every time...I'm old an feeble-minded
