: Will a stock D-Max Exhaust fit a 6.5?

Thought I had read either here or on another forum that a stock D-Max 4" exhaust can be modified and used on our trucks with the 6.5 motor. Can anyone confirm this for me? If so, I'm in the market if anybody has one they'd like to get rid of.

I'm not sure about one from a DMAX werks, but I have also heard the stock ones from a P Stroke going to 5" tube are often found in trash heaps behind muffler & performace shops, 4" stainless steel better than aluminized tube

I don't know about the rest of the system but the down pipe off of the turbo does not fit. I once checked to see the difference between my dmax and my brothers 6.5 and it did not even look close off the turbo.

Doh - forgot to say the exhaust excluding the D-Max downpipe. I knew that piece of the puzzle does not fit. I have the FlowMaster D.pipe kit for the 6.5 including the crossover tube waiting to install but want to change out the rest of the exhaust at the same time if I can.

C'mon Guys

Somebody has to know whether or not this would work. The exhaust is routed down the same side underneath both trucks. I have a local lead on a stock D-Max 4" exhaust from the cat flange back for pretty cheap.

I swear I read a post somewhere, possibly over at The Diesel Page before I came over here, of someone putting a D-Max system less the D-Max downpipe on their 6.5 - Could someone that's still a Diesel Page member do a search over there & see if you could dig anything up for me?:help2:

The down pipe from a Duramax would never work. That much I know for sure.

Thanks, Juancho - That's the one we do know :)

The only thing I would be interested in is the tailpipe section to go over the axel. That will fit with modified mount points- IE weld them on where you need to. From there forward, just need a straight pipe if the forward part of the dmax system won't fit.

Picked up an 03' cat flange back stock D-Max exhaust this afternoon for $50 - will post including pics as to how it all goes together down the road :thumb:.

Canadian Rigger put a dmax exhaust 4" on his truck after a 3" down pipe and 3 1/2- 4"transition.

I have a 98 6.5 and i used my dads stock dmax exhaust over the rear axle. I just had to cut the hangers off and put new hangers on and it looks and sounds sweet

What configuration are yours & your Dad's trucks as to cab & bed length?

I have a Ext Cab Long Bed - the D-Max exhaust I bought is off a Crew Cab Short Bed

I got the PM fishnfool.
Sorry but i must have missed this thread before.

Yes i did put a D'max system on my 2000 6.5 but it wasn't a stock system unless D'max's come out with 4" mandrel bent from the factory. My kit was a D'max upgrade less a couple pieces plus a extra piece of 4" to replace where the muffler was as i left it out. I had the work done at KalTire and there is a couple of pics of it on my website in my signature line.

There site is www.flopro.com

Thanks All

In looking again at what's on my truck stock vs the stock D-Max system, I think it will work with some mods as suggested. I'll post a new thread with pics when I'm done.
