: Replace Power Extending Mirrors on '05 3500 with '06 mirrors
cleerod 04-03-2008, 05:34 PM I have the power extending mirrors on my '05 3500 and would like to replace those with the larger tow mirrors. I have read some other threads on this forum but am still not clear on if this is possible.
Just spoke to the parts/accessories manager at my local dealer and he told me that 06-07 tow mirrors would not fit on my truck. Is there any truth to this?
Would someone mind helping me out? Thanks in advance!
TigerFan822 04-03-2008, 05:39 PM There's tons of people here that have put the 06 tow mirrors on their 05. Sounds like the guy is just giving you a load of bs.
05 white knight 04-03-2008, 05:48 PM Sure it is. Check my garage for the proof! I am sorry to say though that i do not know who put them on, as I bought it that way, but I think it was the Roby Chevy dealer where it was originaly purchased.
cleerod 04-03-2008, 05:52 PM Thanks for the quick replys. That is what I figured!
It's a very simple swap.
30 minutes tops.
redengine 04-03-2008, 07:18 PM I helped put a set on a friends truck it did not take that long and his was an 2005
SEA04DMAX 04-03-2008, 07:42 PM I have them on my late 04...they are a direct bolt on and plug them in.
Henryf 04-03-2008, 07:42 PM Replaced my power extenders with the new ones. Man I love them, I can see much better when towing. Took about 30 min. as it is a simple plug in. go for it, you won't be sorry!

JC1843 04-03-2008, 08:44 PM Me too! Plug and play-- or is it "Play then Plug it"
oilstates2003 04-03-2008, 10:50 PM Me twooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plug them in then you can really see so much chit!!!!!!!
Ranch55 04-04-2008, 09:15 AM I had a set of the '06 towing mirrors on my '05. I just could not get use to them. I took them off and sold them to a member on this forum.
I bought a set of the Schefenacker TTT Mirrors with power, heated, turn signals, from a supporting vendor on this forum. In my opinion, they are the cream of the crop. They definitely give the overall best field of view behind.
cleerod 04-04-2008, 12:30 PM Thanks for the info! Gonna get this done soon.
Could someone please let me know if the following is the correct replacement (I would assume they are)...

pmdickso 04-04-2008, 04:53 PM i did it to my 05 and i couldnt be happier. i have a 23' boat thats pretty wide and i couldnt see around it for anything, now i can see great. easy instal, i havent done much of this before and i got both of them on in about 30 minutes. Its a must do if you haul much.
Oilbrnr 04-04-2008, 05:36 PM Man those things are over $400 a pair now? Yikes! I'll stick with my power extenders or pony up for the Schefenackers. I've never been fond of how they look on the Classics anyway with the up-canted angle.
Norm Howes 04-04-2008, 06:19 PM I have done it, is easy. More than happy to give directions. It helps
SEA04DMAX 04-04-2008, 10:34 PM I sold my old ones on egay for 340.00 and bought the new ones for 440.00.....it only cost me 100.00 to upgrade.
azduramax04 04-04-2008, 10:53 PM My dealer told me it would fry my computer and all the electrical stuff in my truck: power windows, power seats etc. Run them for a few years now and my windows and seats still work. Great upgrade IMO. I love them. Go for it! GMpartsDirect is best price I could find.

Hmm, hadn't thought of that angle...
blkgmcHD 04-05-2008, 02:28 AM so what your saying is that 06 07 mirrors will fit on a 04,05 truck
Oilbrnr 04-05-2008, 03:12 AM Mmmm, in a word, yes.
azduramax04 04-05-2008, 10:01 AM Yes they will fit. Yes they will work just fine. Yes they rock.
blkgmcHD 04-05-2008, 11:52 AM I saw or was told that they would not work. that the mount was diff.
azduramax04 04-05-2008, 10:04 PM Mount? Seemed to bolt up in about ten seconds.........? People keep saying it doesn't work. But IT DOES. I have done this on two trucks now and all is well.............................................. ................. Plug and play!
Donnie 1 04-05-2008, 10:30 PM I think the confusion comes in because the 07 new body style camper mirrors mount different.( so ive been told )
but the 06 and 07 classic will bolt right up.

I agree, I didn't care for the upcanted angle. Maybe that's partly why I could not get used to them.
Donnie 1 04-06-2008, 12:23 PM these's info on this site that tells you how to level them.

if you have an 05, that is the WRONG PART NUMBER!!! that part number is for a pair of NBS tow mirrors. the mount is different.
you need these part numbers.
Left part no. 15904034
Right part no. 15904035
hope its not too late.
cleerod 04-07-2008, 11:54 AM Not too late! Glad you provided the correct part #'s!
Thanks!
Ranch55 04-07-2008, 04:20 PM these's info on this site that tells you how to level them.
Yes, I know.
Then it's not 10 minute plug and play at that point. It's extra work.
