: Put a BD Dyno Dominator on my LLY today
02RedWS6TA 02-03-2005, 02:30 PM I recently became a vendor of Bully Dog but just met with my distributor and recieved my first units today. He brought an extra dyno dominator with him to try on my new LLY. We installed it in about 10 minutes and let the truck warm up to 160* and took off. After going 10 or so miles to let the trans learn at least a little bit I got on it but of course had some major shifting issues and wasn't that impressed. So we came to a complete stop and I put it in 4w hi and braked it up to about 2000 RPM's. Stepped off the brake and kept it to the floor, the truck broke all 4 tires loose and was all over the place (keep in mind it was only about 15* outside). I was impressed to say the least after that.
So I have put about 50 miles on it now and I'm down right amazed. The truck is an absolute beast in any RPM range. I still have my stock transmission but with the tranny smart programming I'm praying I'll be ok for awhile. I have turned it off of 100% back down to 50% just to be on the safe side.
On a side note my dist. has been dynoing 160 plus to the tires with these boxes, I'm definitely impressed myself.

160RWHP is pretty amazing for an LLY right now.

You know if you are going to be a vendor, you had probably better be more clear about who's product you are referencing. Bully Dog has the Dyno Dominator name. BD's Dmax tuner is called the Intimidator. Bully Dog is not BD:rolleyes:
McRat 02-03-2005, 02:46 PM I'd sure like to do 4wd burnouts, but even spooling to 2500 with 460RWHP, it just dances and takes off.
bigchev 02-03-2005, 04:34 PM Who makes the BD unit?

Bring it up to michigan, 10* weather and salt on the roads make for limited traction.

Nothing agrivates me more than long thread titles. Abreviations to make thread titles shorter make me happy. :) I wasn't in anyway trying to advertise on here, most of the vendors on here have a lot more knowledge than I do.
where abouts in michigan are you?
Saginaw/mid-michigan.
max camper 02-04-2005, 03:06 AM I for one am confused, are we talking about a BD intimidator or a Bully Dog dyno dominator? and I dont think the question was answered is it a box or tune.

Bully Dog, box.

My point exactly...

Max Power 02-04-2005, 10:07 AM I assume you are talking about the 150hp version of this? http://www.bullydog.com/products.pl?item=GM_Dyno_Dominator_Module-C-E-
02RedWS6TA 02-04-2005, 10:22 AM Anxiously awaiting test results. What kind of tests do you want?
Tests were done using the out look monitor.
Using the Outlook monitor and on 75% it ran a 0-60 time of 6.94 seconds still have some shifting problems. It still spun out of the hole with the cold/salty pavement but not as bad. It was warming up to about 20* by the time that happened. This was taking off in D and no tow haul on.
On 50% it shifted perfect and ran a 7.00 but still spinning. I was torqing it up passed 2200 RPM's though. I didn't have any more time to try anything else.
The truck is stock other than the box and the outlook monitor. It has the stock tires, exhaust, and air box for the time being. When it's in Florida it will have a 4" exhaust and the box.
I can try to do a quarter mile test but I'm not to comfortable doing that on public streets. I'm going to the track while I'm in Florida in a few weeks to run my bike so I will try to run my truck with some video while I'm there.

I've turned it all the way off for the time untill I can get the pyro hooked up. I'll report back with some EGT's after I get it hooked up.
I don't have time this weekend to do it though, Uncle is getting married and I'm in the wedding

160RWHP is pretty amazing for an LLY right now.Sorry, I didn't see this post.
It's a harness box (I can get pics).
With just the box the settings are adjustable on the fly with a toggle switch between stock, 70, and 130 (LLY, LB7 is 150) (reports have said it's dynoing over 160 but I have no personal expierence with that). It also has built in tranny smart porgramming that can detect slipping in the transmission and it will defuel.
When using it with the OutlLook you can do 5 adjustable settings on the fly, 0, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. You can also program in your tire size to display MPH in one of the 4 boxes. It monitors EGT's, Boost, RPM's, MPH, 1/4 mile test, 0-60 time, and HP and TQ tests. Record and display Highest boost, EGT, HP/TQ, fastest 0-60, and fastest 1/4. You can also set emergency defueling points based on the EGT's. It also scans trouble codes and a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head. Maybe Kennedy can fill in the blanks as I have none of my info with me right now.
tbone1227 02-04-2005, 11:48 AM does this box still have the engine noise problem when truck is not warmed up ? and how does it compare in regards to driveability issues as say the predator or edge ?
02RedWS6TA 02-08-2005, 10:14 PM does this box still have the engine noise problem when truck is not warmed up ? and how does it compare in regards to driveability issues as say the predator or edge ?
As far as I can tell it doesn't. My engine isn't any noisier and doesn't knock any more than it used to before the box.
I haven't had the Predator or Edge on my personal truck so I can't say. I just got the truck a few months ago. My buddy with the Edge/***. Combo on his 05 LLY doesn't seem to be to happy with it. I talked to him for a second about it last week and he said he was having all kinds of problems with it but I didn't have time to get into what the problems were.
On 50% as long as you keep your foot above half throttle you can barely notice a difference over stock. It idles fine and I don't get any surging with about 200 miles on it so far.
I found myself on a back road tonight with no houses or cars. I put the Outlook on 1/4 mile to see what it would do in 75%. Coolent temp was 185* and I torqued it to 2200 in D (no tow haul). I got no spin out of the hole for the first time ever and it felt like a rocket ship, first gear shift felt like I hit a brick wall, and pretty much the same for the rest of the shifts also (as expected, the truck was only ran once this weekend and that was at 25%). The OutLook said 15.05@90mph. Take it for what it's worth. I only had time to do one run and with perfect shifts I could deff. see some 14.50's out of the 100% tune (at least as far as the monitor says).
dpower 02-08-2005, 11:04 PM Keep us up to date on how it performs at the track....inquring minds want to know!
