I got the 2005 filter catalog in this morning and checked the part number for the duramax....Instead of using the current part number (3810) for the redesigned filter, they changed the part number to 3910....I have yet to see one to verify that it is in fact the new designed filter, but I can't imagine another reason for the change.....The 3810 filter is now obsolete...
Of course, they raised the price on them too...

how much was it at napa? That depends....If you are just joe walk-in, they go for 45.89...
If you have a fleet, or know someone who does, you can pick them up for around 35 bucks....
Prices might be higher or lower, depending on what part of the country you're in...

$25.00 $$$ you say, that's $5.00 cheaper then one of the supporting venders on this site, Do you work for GM or have a insite? I just called my dealer and $39.39 for the new duel pleat. So if I were you I would buy all you can and start your own filter business because $25.00 is a steal unless your full of SH*T.

I've been selling them for $28 right along and free shipping if you buy 4 or more at a time.

I bought a new style fuel filter and a oil filter at my local dealer and the total came out to be $42 after tax, didn't really notice what the individual prices were.

Just be glad we dont own FORD PSD's, almost $100 for a fuel & oil filter from the dealer. I get a discount so I buy them for my father-in-laws PSD, with discount still a lot, OIL $22.95 and FUEL $48.00. Mine for my D'Max are almost exactly half with discount.

That's what I thought, partsguy. You'd think if they are all made by Racor, they would be consistent and have a black stripe ! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rant.gif

Maybe it's http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/secret.gif.

Maybe it's http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/secret.gif. You would think so, Ace....However...I think they will paint whatever the customer wants on them (they being Racor) Hell, if Napa wanted pink polka-dots on them (If this ever happens, I'm going tohttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/banghead.gif) they would do it...My guess is that Napa didn't want the black stripe for whatever reason, and Racor appeased them accordingly....I'll let you know when I cut this one apart for inspection..

Last week i changed my fuel filter. Got it from NAPA, you know the usual 3810. Get home and put it on and the truck will not crank. Primed good and everything, take it off and notice it's a 3910. I thought they gave me the wrong filter. Took it back and exchanged for the 3810 and installed and cranked fine. Anyone experience this?
