: PPE and boost stick?

Can I run a boost stick with the PPE on my LLY? Or does the PPE add enough boost to negate the need for it? I had been looking at the Predator, but a buddy of mine has the PPE he is going to let me borrow for a little while and I like the idea of it defueling shifts (to help the tranny maybe).

BTW, according to PPE website, their tow tunes run up to 120 extra HP? Even their little tow tune is 90HP. Can this be okay for a stock or my valve body only modified transmission? I am kinda of leery about running the 90hp tow tune with my trans and towing a 15k lb 5er. Which one is better for economy, the level 1 economy tune or the level 2 tow tune? One last thing, does the PPE throw off the DIC? I've read that the Predator can and will, but I wasn't sure if that was just a Predator thing or if all tuners and what not will affect the DIC.

I have the PPE on my truck right now. I am runing level 3 160HP with my stock trans with no problems. When I tow I go to level 2. My EGT's have never been over 1200. I would not put the boost stick with the PPE. I have seen 29PSI of boost and they say at around 32 you run the risk of blowing the stock turbo apart.

Well, I won't get a boost stick then. How much weight are you towing around on level 2? What kind of terrain have you towed in? I saw near 1300 degrees towing an 8000lbs TT with my 2500HD LB7 up Wolf Creek Pass two years ago, that was with a full exhaust, intake, PPE boost valve and Bullydog on their 60 hp tow tune. That was too much for that little trailer, now I got a bigger one and I don't want to get to that point again.

I do not know for sure what the waight of the trailer was but it was an open trail with my 4200lbs car on the trailer and the bed of the truck had a generator, air compressor, extra tires for the car, and a tool box. I also had 4 other big boys in the truck with me. I was towing from San Francisco to Reno. Up the Sierras is a long steep pull. I have towed on level 3 with no problem as long as I am not pulling any steep grades.

As soon as I got my PPE I loaded level 5 and went for a drive with the boost stick still installed. The turbo sounded like it was going to come apart. I pulled the boost stick out and have been driving it for a week with no more problems. I might try the stick again later on lower settings, but it's too much fun on level 5 for now.:)
