ok. im thinking about an upgrade. i have a 2004 gmc 2500hd crew cab, short bed, duramax allison. i am thinking about switching to a new truck with an lly. would this be a good move. it seems like the llys have more problems, but there is just something about them. could you guys give some reasons to or not to do this? also, is there really a difference between a chevy and a gmc( other than price) thanks for the wisdom.

Big cost to upgrade. LB7 is a good engine, just cost a little more for injector replacement after warranty.GMC and Chev are the same truck accept for appearance trim. I personally like the GMC looks better.

If you want to spend some bucks, do it. Seriously doubt that you will really notice much difference in most driving situations.

The car is identical in a mechanical sense, but as for asthetics, there is a big war on which one is better or not or identical. I went with a GMC myself because there are too many Silverado's on the road.

As for the great LLY/LB7 debate, the LB7 has been around alot longer and has all the toys and alot of bugs worked out, the LLY on the other hand is relatively new so there are few toys out for it. Problem wise, both are not far off, the LLY's do not have that many problems, just some cases where there is knocking/smoke, but I'd say that a majority of people are running fine.

Good luck with your future purchase, read a bit more on this forum and you'll see just how much people love this truck.
