1992 6.2na 4 speed outo one ton 3500 dump truck

Had entire transmission rebuilt at a reputable shop recently.

Since rebuild

1st to 2nd bangs like crazy when applying very limited torque.
1st to 2nd shifts smoothly under heavy throttle

Over drive only works when motor is cold
Transmission will shift into over drive, but not engage. It will spin up into very high rpms trying to engage, but will shift back down to 3rd because it wont engage.

I took it back to the shop and they told me they repaced every wear part and that the shifting is controlled electronicall by the computer and its basicall my problem. WTF!!!

Any advice

can I adjust the shift points manually or is there an aftermarket program to programe the existing computer to shift better.
Thanks

ask the shop if they replaced the input and output sensors. if not $30 each and 5 min under the truck buys piece of mind if not fixing the problem.
oh yeah check the tps also.

? and how do I check it. Is that the throttle position sensor.
Thanks.

Are the imput and output sensors inside the transmission. I did see a note on the bill saying replaced full electronic kit.

One other question I had was can I reset my computer and let the transmission learn to shift similar to new cars.

the sensors are on the drivers side of the tranny one near the bell housing and one near the tail. the tps is adjustable but i can't find any info on how to check or adjust, sorry.

Your trans should have a warrenty. I would take it back to the shop and make them fix it.

ringoderek your tranny is a 4l80e it will go into limp mode if the computer sees anything it does not like that means no 4th no lock up and maximum line pressure the best way to diagnose is with a scan tool check for trans trouble codes sounds like a tps problem to me code would be code 22 tps to low it is a common problem with those trucks tps voltage below .2 for 2 seconds will set this code i usually bump the setting up to about .8 and then just check to make sure that it does not go over 5 volts at wot can be read on a scan tool or back probe connector at tps to read voltage make sure it is not on hi idle when you set it):h

I'll replace the sensors myself and then take it in too be scanned on monday.

TPS problems will generate harsh or soft shifts only. High voltage=Low pressure shoft shifts. Codes for that will be present. Sounds to me like the shop that did the work is not up to latest tech. If they can't fix it, get a refund. Do not get GMs latest reflash, you will be sorry.
