I searched for this on this forum but found nothing. I have a slight oil leaking from what I believe is the oil level switch on the side of the oil pan. Has anyone ever seen this? If so then what has to be done to fix it and can this switch be removed easily. Thank You.

Well, does it look like it is leaking from the threads, or from the switch itself?

Try some teflon tape on the threads or replace the switch. Seems pretty straight forward to me...

If leaking from the oil level sensor, you will need to remove the lower pan to fix it as it installs from the inside. It contains an o-ring seal that may need replaced.

Also there is no lower pan gasket, so you will need the tube of sealer that GM sells (about $16)

This is not that bad of a job, just a little messy.

dont feel bad mine has a small leak too,but not bad enough to justify dropping the pan yet

Thank you for the input. It doesn't look like its the o-ring. It looks like it is coming from the center of the sensor where the connector plugs into it. I hate leaks!

Post some pictures of what you're looking at. I've got some oil moisture coming from the seam where the oil filter housing meets the block. It comes down and collects on one of the sensors making it look like that's where it's coming from.

Check the pictures I posted in #33 and #34 here:

I found the problem! It confused the hell out of me but it was not the oil level sensor at all. The power steering pressure hoses were leaking slightly which managed to migrate down the sensor wiring  and was actually collecting in the sensor connection and making it look like the leak was comming form the sensor. Fixed the power steering hoses cleaned everything off and all is well. Thanks for the replys.
