I'm having a Line-x liner sprayed on saturday. Do they just spray over the access panel in the tailgate, or will I still be able to get into it? I was curious if I would be able to add a power taligate lock later.

My Line-X Dealer removed the bolts for the tailgate handle and replaced them after the gate was sprayed..........

If they do not R&R the bolts forget ever taking them out again.

I am not aware of any plate...........

Can you elaborate more on what the plate is.....

I thought the tailgate had some type of access panel that you could remove when you take the bolts out (the bed side of the tailgate, not the outside). Maybe I'm mistaken. I'll have to look again tomorrow.

I do not remember any access plate..........I believe access is through the latch assembly

My friend ownes a line-x franchise, he takes out the bolts for the handle and on applications where there is an access panel he takes it off and sprays it seprate. In Fords he even loosens the bed bolts and sprays around the bolts and then retightens them in case the bed is ever in a collision they can take the bed off easy.

My bolts were removed and reinstalled, but it looks like no access panel or they sprayed over it if there was one. They also taped off the plastic tailgate lip protector, which I thought was a nice touch so I could remove it someday and install something metal and polished!

I'm a LINE-X dealer.

If you have a Chevy/GMC, you have no access panel, just 3 bolts. The LINE-X dealer should remove the bolts, spray, then replace the bolts.

If your truck has an access panel, the access panel screws are removed and the panel is lifted up about an inch by putting something underneath it so that the access panel does not get stuck to the tailgate with LINE-X. Then the tailgate is sprayed. Lower the panel back down, reinstall the screws, done.

It's advised not to completely spray over the access panel and screws in case you need to get to the release mechanism inside the tailgate for a repair.

I have the Line-X as well. The bolts were removed befre the liner was sprayd in and the plastic trim was taped to. Looks great.

You're all right. There is no access panel. I just thought I had seen one.
