Like the title says. I'm driving down the road and the motor will shut off for a split second and come back on. The DIC will flash "Service Brake System" and then everything is normal (Except the whiplash in my neck from the blasted thing jerking forward). I say it's electrical because my other truck that I had('03 1500HD 6.0L) did the samething but more often. Any suggestions on what it might be?

Faulty ignition switch adjustment, or loose ignition switch plug?
Can you duplicate by rapping on the steering column?

Had a 98 that would do that, it turned out to be the main ground for the truck on the frame. Do you lose radio, lights and everything? Just my two cents but it might be an easy fix. Mine got really bad, truck would not turn back on sometimes. Was a wierd thing but turned out to be a free fix :), just a little time

You've been abducted by aliens. The landings are always a bit rough.

:funnypost, but only cause it's now happened to someone else now. Let's just say it involved coating a hard hat in aluminum foil to function again:rolleyes:.

I'll try it after I get out of surgery tomorrow. Basically it's like the motor will shut off and maybe the ECM, but for a split second and then everything is normal again. So far it has only done it while I was driving not stopped. The other truck did the same thing.I'll try wiggling the key in the ignition and tapping on the column to see if it will reproduce the problem. Thanx for the responses.

I've had my truck just shutoff twice. I recommend getting the latest software loaded. I've also had my cruise control just go off and can't reset it without shutting off the truck and restarting. I've also had the truck go into low power mode until I restart it. Scary when this happens and you are pulling a 4,500 lb trailer and in the far left lane. Happened once while I was climbing a hill. I got my software updated and all has been fine for about 3 weeks now.

I have had all but the low power issue. With the cruise control, I found that you can just wait a bit and they will reset by themself. My truck is out of warranty now at 110000 miles. wonder how much it would cost to have it flashed by dealer, and if they would throw a hissy fit if they see the banks programmer on there.
