I have been running Amsoil since i bought the truck, but wondering how many quarts you put in every oil change, just curious.

thanks

book calls for 10 quarts ... have found with our truck that to bring the level to the top of the highest mark on the dipstick takes 11 quarts ... the brand/type of oil you use is pretty much a personal choice with about as many different opinions as there are folks who own these trucks ... guess I am too old school, there are many fancier oils out there but all things considered, I choose to use old fashion Shell Rotella-T 15W40 dino oil ... 82,000+ miles and never have had to add a quart in the 5,000 miles between changes

Just about 11 qts to do the trick. Shell Rotella 15-40 and OEM filter.

With the 15w/40 RP and the Amsoil dual bypass system it takes approx 12 quarts.

Engine takes 10 qts filter just under 1 qt, Shell Rotella 15-40, 5 trucks over 400,000 miles no oil related problems yet and thats in tow trucks and my 2500HD.

10 to 10.5 quarts of Rotella Syn 5w-40 (with Baldwin filter, of course) when the DIC shows about 35-40% of oil life remaining.

Also used Amsoil since 5K miles! Every change (3X before Amsoil) the filter is also changed and it takes 10qts. It is spec at 11qts, so I always checked 2X each time the oil was changed.
