My 04 ext cab has been in the shop many times. I brought it in when it was a couple of months old for major wind noise in the passenger side, dealership looks at it and says that it is normal because " they are such big doors", ok whatever. So not long after that comes memorial weekend, and we go camping, well on saturday an monson rain comes, no big deal, so sunday and monday come and it gets hot and sunny. Later monday, we are packing up so I get in the truck to hook up the camper and holy @#$% does it smell like mildew, the wife opens the door and the whole carpet is soaked from front to back, back to the dealer we go. They put it in their wash bay and let water run on it for a while and sure enough it was leaking. nut that must be because there such big doors right.Censored so needless to say they had my truck many times replacing the carpet, carpet pad and steam cleaning the whole truck. That was the worst of it, but I have brought it in a bunch more times for door noise including today in which they claim they cant hear any squeaks or rattles, but as soon as I pull out of their driveway onto the road it makes a ton of noise. Maybe I'm just hearing things. Ok sorry rant over

Driver side. Seems to be coming from top of A pillar area. ?!? See what dealer says. I'll probably end up racking the door like I did on my '03. I fixed that one, I can probably fix the '04.

Send an email to GM Servuce rep, tell them whole story and that you'd like some help. They don't like to hear these things and sometimes they do help. My 03 leaked and the dealer adjusted the door before I took delivery. No problems with water but every once in the while I hear a little air.

If we don'y complain to GM service reps about quality control, were never going to see a quality built truck/car. We pay a very inflated price to help GM and other makes to fix problems caused by bad engineeriong and quality control. That warranty isn't free, we paid for it.

The passenger back door rattles like the doors on an old panel van on mine and all the stealer did on two occasions is lube the hinges.the stealer has got to think the problem is more serious than to lube the hinges. And they wonder why I give them a bad service survey.

Sorry to be the bearer of more bad news, but I had an '03 that the stealers could never get fixed. The doors squeeked and rattled a week after I bought the truck. I finally traded for an '04 crew cab and have never been happier.

PS, I also got tired of the roof flexing and popping at highway speeds and when going through the carwash. I don't know why GM doesn't reinforce the roofs of the extended cabs like they do on the crews.

Hear ya ~ Mine got fixed finally just yesterday.

My 02 EC was the same way ~ only the it was the drivers side. The first visit to the dealer ~ some improvement. The second "Its the rack on your topper" Read: Gee, I donno what to do.

So, just like all my other problems ~ when I go to TX to visit my daughter ~ I take it into Cavender Chebby in Boerne. Invariably they fix the problem right the first time. Ours had gotten so bad that the missus was forever telling me to check the window. I did ask to go on the test drive w/the tech so that we could change out and hear both side for comparative purposes ~ I've never ridden in the passenger seat and really didn't know how it sounded over there. Easy to make a case when one side is noisier than the other. They adj'd the door a lil' and replaced the top gasket. World of difference. Over the last 2 yrs (visits) I average 2 trips each visit to Cavender for warranty work. They've proven to be outstanding ~

Well at least i'm not the only one with this problem. I think it's time to try a new dealership. Maybe someone else can get it right.

I would try a new dealer if I was you. I took my truck in for squeeking pass rear EC door they adjusted, theny it wouldnt close properly had lots of wind noise, so naturally I took it back they adjusted the latches and put in a cable kit, works flawless now. Easy to shut, always closes tight, no wind noise or squeeks. I think you just have a dealer problem.:)

I have a 00 1500 extended cab and the seal came loose on both doors (Pass & Driver side) just used some permatex form a gasket pushed the seal on the door up after applying the gasket sealant and havent had any problems since. Before doing this had a lot of wind noise and doors wouldnt seal tight. Seemed to fix the problem did it over a year ago and havent had any probs since. Hope this helps :grd:
