A buddy of mine has a 06 chevy lbz/ally. and was pulling his 12,000lb goose neck trailer last friday and notice the engine temp and tranny temp higher then normal. He went and check the coolant level in the resovior and it was full and notice that the top rad hose was flat as a pancake any ideas that would have cause this? And is there any other place to get the hosees for it other than the dealer?autozone and advance cant not get them. thanks in advance

Have seen posts here on the DP that say a collasped upper radiator hose is caused by a bad coolant tank cap.Guess when the engine cools down after being shut off the hose sucks shut because the cap is plugged.

That is correct. Need to replace the raiator cap. Faulty as charged. Has been common on a lot of trucks 2005 and up.

No need to replace. Take the cap off, wash in warm soapy water with a old toothbrush and then spray a little WD-40 inside. It's from the Dexacool and a new cap will do the same over time

There was a thread that stated the reason the problem re-occurs is that most of the replacement caps are manufactured by the same company (Stant) that makes the OEM ones and all have the same design malfunction. Buy one at Autozone. It looks a little different and works!

After it's cooled off. There's a neat video (the 55 gallon drum) and explanation here: http://www.physics.rutgers.edu/~croft/cancrsh.htm Same principle, the cans are sealed, our cooling systems are sealed (when the cap gets gummed up with DexCool).
