Just bought a Baldwin fuel filter says made in China. I don't know if I should take it back or cut it open to compare with my Delco-Racor filters. :( Don't want China parts on my truck!

I have several of those that I got from a vendor here. I have not had any problems with them, but was taken aback when I saw the Made in China marking.

Made in china does not always means bad. If there is a good quality standard given to them, it will be fine. The trouble is that most of the time, the company doing the outsourcing to china does not give them a "stringent" quality specification. Since they don't have quality standard, they just work like a machine and don't care about quality. If we look at history, Japan have a similar case. Until they hired Juran and Deming to teach them about quality. The sad part about it is the US company does not even apply Juran and/or Deming principles until the japanese adopted them.

I have one of those gold canned filters. They feel much heavier than the AC Delco.

I have cut open the racor-style and this Baldwin filter made in China. The Baldwin/China filter is a lot beefier and better built in my opinion. I am using it. SPICER

I went to a truck supply store to buy a couple of fuel filters. The Baldwin filter is what I bought. When I got home and saw the made in China sticker I was a little ticked off. Spent about 1/2 hour on the phone calling the Baldwin headquarters back east. Finally talked to a man in the R&D section who told me that they send the components from his facility to China for assembly only. Same quality components. Told me hold on to my old Baldwin filter, which looks different from this new one, and cut it open and compare it with this new Baldwin filtet, when I replace it.
