http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/censored.gif I think I might have made a boo boo on parts. I got my turbo system in today. But I'm having clearance problems.

The #4 injector it hitting the manifold I have. Is there a fix for it?

so I was thinking, is any of the following an idea?

1. using the cutting torch getting the manifold red hot and try to put a "clearance dent" into it

2. is there such things as a bare header flange for a 6.2? If so I could use it at a spacer

3. another manifold perhaps?

also is the tail of the manifold to point out at an angle like that? I think I might have bellhousing issues. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/help.gif

did you swap to the 6.5 heads and injectors? they have a different injector angle and a shorter injector.

No I hadn't planned on doing that. Only if my heads needed replacing.

I might find an old mainfold to experiment with heating and denting.

It'd be a simple fix if there is a header flange out there.......

Contact a fuel injection shop and get a set of injectors from a 6.2 powered van, they are short like the 6.5's. You can probably tweek your injector lines to fit. This will give you the clearance you need. Good Luck.:D

Could I run one "short" injector and the rest normal or would that cause fuel problems? the #4 is the only thing that's not clearing. Depening upon cost. I might make up my own spacer plates.

Would you happen to have a set?

As far as that goes you could just use a set of 6.5 injectors. The pop off is a little higher than a 6.2, but it shouldn't be a big deal. I have only had one set of van injectors from an engine I bought many years ago and I traded them to a fuel injection shop.

Those are some seriously rusted injectors. I think GM has a injector/line kit for fitting it.

Put on 6.5L heads or you could pull your heads and have 6.5L precups installed. That will put the injectors at the right angle.

This is the crossover attachment flange. You mave have to bend that bracket (or completly reshape it)to make it fit with the crossover on there.

So the injector hole and tap is the pre cup?

the injector hole is cast into the head. i don't see how changing a pre cup will do anything to the head casting. the 6.5 injectors and van 6.2 injectors have finer threads than the standard 6.2 injectors. what year is the motor and heads and what part # is stamped on the injectors you have. this info may help figure out what will fit.

Thats what I thought.

From what it seems. The best idea from here will be to build a set of spacers from 1/2" plate. I'll use two sets of gaskets on them. (on both sides)

I had planned to wrap the crossover pipe and turbo manifold with header rap anyhow.

That seems to be the easiest fix as of right now. I'm going to comp test the engine tonight to find the source of the blowby. I've already got the gasket set for it.

The only year of injector that had coarse threads was the 1982, after that all the 6.2's and 6.5's have the same thread pitch.

No, it's in the cylinder head casting.

I got the bracket. Did you get my pm about sending you money?

No, it's in the cylinder head casting.

Would there be any ill effects to running only one short injector? I'm only having fitment problems on #4.

Now comeone, you know good and well the injector will not change position by changing the precup. have you not had your coffe today?

I think I found a set of short injectors!!!!!
