: Dealership/Warranty Question
Duramax Andy 03-27-2008, 09:05 PM Dont really know where to post this, put I dropped my truck off now twice in the past 2 weeks for warranty work, both times they told me they cant give me a loaner vehicle unless mine is down for more than 1 day, they said its GM policy... is this true?
firepoggy 03-27-2008, 09:38 PM I was told that they had to have the vehicle overnight.
DMAX1518 03-27-2008, 09:45 PM They told me the same thing and my wifes uncle is the salesman at the dealership.
ColbyColorado04 03-27-2008, 09:55 PM Kinda depends on your dealer as well. I took my truck in to get my tranny lines replaced and they gave me a 2008 DTS right off the lot to drive for the day.
BHoward6.6 03-27-2008, 09:59 PM The owners manual stats that the dealer may give interim transportation. I have not read any where that chevy has to give a loaner.
If some one knows of this in black and white I would like to see it also.
crusherguy 03-27-2008, 10:27 PM Depends totally on the dealer. I've bought my last 5 vehicles from the same dealer because of their service and customer appreciation. I'm always offered a loaner, wheather it's for 1 hour or 1 day. Now I live 600 miles from this dealer in the winter months, and all I ever get offered from the dealers here is a ride or a cup of coffee. And believe me , I let them know why I buy my vehicles 600 miles away!
RayMich 03-27-2008, 10:52 PM They are not obligated to do so.
GM pays for the rental car only if they keep your vehicle overnight or longer.
As crusherguy said, it depends on the dealer. Some dealers will provide a loaner out of their own fleet as a courtesy and others won't.
NelsonDiesel 03-27-2008, 11:09 PM Our gm rep will only allow a rental if there is more then 2 hours worth of work. We don't have loaners.
Duramax Andy 03-27-2008, 11:21 PM more than 2 hours of work, they started the steering box/tranny lines/steering wheel clunk in the morning, i was told it will be done by 2. and they called me at 430 to tell me the gearbox has been fighting him(my fault for not calling earlier, i got busy at work) we will have it over night, i asked him how do i get home and he said well we dont have a loaner. so i drove one of my shop trucks home. im a service manager for the farm equipment business, i know i dont treat my customers like the service manager treats me, if it wasnt for the great salesman i had, i would never step a foot in that dealership again. i know i wont for service issues anymore. i also enjoy how the service manager knows what i do for a living (the shops are about 3 miles away) and he treats me like im dumb. im glad i came prepared with a tsb number, so i could do his job. done ranting.

Exactly, it's clearly stated in your owners manual.
Stewie, I know GMPP only allows a rental after 2 hrs worth of work, your normal ASM agrees to 2 hours as well? Thats actually pretty cool, makes it easier for you manager to give out rentals thats for sure.
tinypeckerwood 03-28-2008, 01:50 AM I have never been given a loaner by GM. Now ford on the other hand has always been real good about giving me a loaner. Good thing too, they have had alot of warranty repairs from me. May be it helps that the company I work for is the worlds largest consumer of fords crap, and I am responsible for alot of ford pick ups. But I still personally own GM.
Duramax Andy 03-28-2008, 04:50 PM dealership got my truck back today, still has steering wheel clunk, so i called him and talked to the writer, whos a nice guy and i asked about their policy on performance products, he said hey steering wheel clunk has nothing to do with performance chip, exhaust or intake
so im gonna put all my stuff back on saturday or tonight and go back monday or tuesday to get my truck fixed. sound like a trap?
NelsonDiesel 03-28-2008, 04:52 PM why not just leave it off just to be safe?
Who pays for it if they go on a test drive and your engine locks up? They could blame your shenanigans....
Just something to think about.
It is very unlikely.... but better to be safe then sorry, right?
Duramax Andy 03-28-2008, 06:22 PM now i need some brains. i want to play with my juice attitude i just bought. but i want to keep all my stuff off for the warranty work, i have an evo too, could i use the evo JUST for the pyro hook up, keep the evo on stock setting, and plug in the juice and have everything be happy in harmony?
