Copied form EDGE Website:

"Bonus Features:
In addition to all of the parameters that can be displayed, diesel owners can purchase a thermocouple probe that connects to an additional sensor port on the OBDII connection and display EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature). Or the same connection can be used to input a wideband 02 sensor. And for owners of new diesels with diesel particulate filter (DPF) traps, the Insight displays DPF regeneration status."

Is this to say that you do not have to drill/tap the Exhaust manifold to read EGT's? The picture shows a thermocouple probe with threads on it, but the info reads it plugs in to the OBDII connection. Anyone know the answer to how it actually works??

It will read the 2 egt sensors through the dlc for the dpf. if you want to know the egts at the exhaust manifold you will have to buy the probe and the drill/tap the manifold.

x2, what goodwrenchtech said. I had NorCal Nick install my EGT probe at the manifold after getting the Hawkeye EGT probe from MSD.

The EGT sensors down near the DPF are slow to respond plus will not show actually temps at the manifold. Can be nearly 200 degrees or more off from actually upstream temps at the manifold. that is what I have been told here. I have the Dashhawk model but waiting till better weather to install the external probe.

Me too. While doing some suspension tweaks for me yesterday, Nor-Cal Truck also installed my EGT probe. I was worried about stray metal shavings blowing thru my turbo, but NCT has a "hot strategy" to avoid this potential issue. They drill UP into the bottom of the driver-side manifold ... plus, of course, using a greased bit to catch all metal shavings.

Evolution is working great ... Thanks to Jeff & Nick! :ro)
