: error codes po216 B & P1214 B
73rx3 02-01-2005, 08:47 AM Hi,
i have a 3500 hd , 6.5 turbo diesel.
and the SES light is on,so,had a friend read the codes, and got PO216B and P1214B.
i would like to correct it.:help:
can someone tell me what to do??
thanks Michael
quantum mechanic 02-01-2005, 10:11 AM p0216 is injection timing control (steeper?)
p1214 is injection pump timig offset
I'd wonder if your pump had moved and is putting the stepper in a bind.
Turbine Doc 02-01-2005, 10:23 AM What did your friend read the codes with, hopefully with a diagnostic scan tool and there is some more info we can use, time actual & desired would be handy, pulse width, fuel delivery, water temp, is this code active always or can it be cleared and it comes on immediately or comes back on at a certain rpm or after a period of time, happen more frequently on cold days.
The electronic IP is hard to diagnose without a scan tool & just codes, are you having any other problems or just codes, a bad PMD does not set codes but in some cases causes sympathetic codes drawing your attention to the IP when root cause is something else like something as simple as a wiring problem.
Not trying to be evasive but need additional info if you have it.
73rx3 02-01-2005, 11:27 AM Hi TD,
he used a scan tool.
truck seems to run fine. not like my 03 with the duramax ):h
he resets the SES light, and it comes on within a few miles.
the injection pump was replaced at 80,000 miles, truck has 166,000 on it now.
thanks Michael
Turbine Doc 02-01-2005, 09:41 PM What kind of scan tool just a code reader or a diagnostic one like Snap On, GM tech 2, Matco, or MAC T2
73rx3 02-02-2005, 07:48 PM Hi TD,
i think the brand was OTC.
i will ask him tommorrow.
thanks Michael
Turbine Doc 02-02-2005, 07:58 PM great IIRC OTC can pull some of the info we need to do some in depth recommendations
73rx3 02-02-2005, 08:38 PM Hi Tim,
so,what should i do? should i have him hook it back to his scanner?
Michael
Turbine Doc 02-02-2005, 11:06 PM Yes hook it back up and pull a list of what is displayed for parameters, also see if codes can be cleared and see if they pop back on as soon as they are reset rev engine/drive truck to see if you can catch what is happening when codes set SES lite, also look in history, the 2nd & 3rd tier codes get stored there, those are things that don't set a hard code, but give some indication what might be helping to set the hard code.
73rx3 02-03-2005, 07:03 AM Hi Tim,
he reset the light and it came back on within a mile.
i will stop there today to see if he can do it.
i do all of my own mechanical work, on my cars and trucks. i'm new to diesels.
i just started buying diesel trucks, i have a 88 with a 6.2 and i use it to plow, and i love it,i'd rather use that than my new truck with the duramax!
thanks for all the info!
Michael
