Hey everyone, I am in the processing of purchasing a 2002 Sierra 2500HD 3/4 ton 4x4 EXT. Cab. I am purchasing it from the orig. owner who has taken it to a dealership every time it needed servicing or any other maintenance. He has kept all the receipts of the maintenance done to the vehicle in folders designated by the year it was done. This truck is in great condition and runs good. The owner has taken great care of it. BUT...It has high miles, 239K to be exact. He drove it once a week to Montana for work and most if not all the mileage is from highway driving. At first I was reluctant to purchase it until I saw how well he maintained it and kept his records and the price they were willing to sell it to me. They are willing to part with it for $10,000. After hearing that price I had to except. I don't know a whole lot about Diesels, but I have always wanted one. I could never afford one, until now. If you guys have any advice on how I should drive the truck because of its high mileage and anything else that may come up please let me know. Also, I wanted to get a Performance programmer for it as well as a CAI(Cold Air Intake) and I am not sure if I should because of the mileage. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post as well. I tend to ramble.

10 grand is a STEAL. Has it had injectors done on it yet...well, it probably has, but how many times? I wouldn't worry as much about the motor at those miles as the transmission after a tuner...Take it easy, and you should be fine. :) BTW - welcome to DP!!
All service records and for 10k? Sounds good to me.
Is that miles or kilometers? What's the Kellybluebook price on it?

Yea, I almost thought I heard him wrong, but he said for me I could take it for $10,000. Which is an AWESOME deal. He has had the injectors replaced 3 times. He just had them done for the 3rd time as well as getting the fuel lines cleaned. So he has kept up with getting things replaced when it needs to get done.
So if I did get a tuner I would just have to be conservative with the tune and not get to crazy with the power. But I assume the motor and transmission will be fine? Thanx for the Welcome.

Yea, I'm picking it up in the next week or so. I cant wait. And I will take it easy on the tranny. I don't want to have to replace any parts right away.
