Hi

i had severalproblems starting the truck lately. the starter is new, fsd is new, wire are clean and all looks fine. i tryed starting the truck and it cranked a few times, but then the batteries were starting to dye out so i stopped, and rechercged the batteries, i tested both and they are in top shape. now i fi put my key in, there is no lights at all in the dashboars, the brake lights wont even go on it i hit the pedal.

the only lights that work are the ones when you open a door and on the ceiling. so no lights at all, it seems like there is no power coming to the truck or some computer or relay is busted? i have no idea, i checked all fuses under the steering column and no one is busted, all the relay under the steering seem fine and dont smell of burn electornic?

has anybody experienced such problem with a 6.5L before? the truck is for sell but i cannot sell it as is because it wont start, for once i had a buyer.. :(

thanks for any help!
Mike

Mike, Our trucks are notorious for requiring all battery and ground connections to be clean and tight. When I notice mine starting to slow a bit in cranking time, I always go to the battery connections first. Almost always solves it. There are the obvious ones on the battery, but also the block to body ground that gets seldom looked at needs to be checked periodically as well. Try this out, hope that helps. James.

hi guys! i have found a broken wire near the transmisison fluid check gauge, there is a bunch of ground wire and one of them was cut, that gave me the lights in the dash that little buzzer noise and i guess it was the ground to many problem, but the starter still wont turn, i checked my batteries to make shure they are full and i guess by trying and trying i really killed them, they are not to strong maybe thats wath keeps the starter from turning and cranking the enigne.

i am charging the batteries right now and i will let you know in a few hours if it did something or not, i tryed boosting the truck with my tractor and didnt do anything! so i will try to charge them for a few hours to see if it will change somehting?

is there somekind of starter relay somewhere in or on the truck?

thanks
Mike

what about your battery crossover cable? it may look fine on the outside but they corrode on the inside under the insulation. are your cables factory or brand new? i would rule those out with a set of jumper cables between both positive sides on the two batteries.

check the wires at the starter.. I had the same problem with my 94. I also had intermittent lights, but as soon as i turned the key to warm up glowplugs it'd go bad
