I have a GMC 3500 with the paint chipping badly on the hood and a few on the roof. Dealer told me this would not be covered under warranty because damage was due to tree sap left too long on vehicle, and it has damaged the clear-coat.Also has a few ringlets they say is from acid rain.I took it to the GMC dealer closest to me and they told me this story. Then I took it back to the dealer where it was purchased and at first they told me it was rock and debris chips and then changed there story after seeing several hundred little places.Every time I polish the truck more places pop up due to the polish being trapped in these little holes.I told them I was not happy with the warranty denial, and they are calling in a factory rep. It has been 2 weeks today and I have not heard from anyone! The vehicle was bought 3-29-03 and had only 22 k when I reported this problem to them. Any help or similar problems would be appeciated.

What color is it? I know they had some issues in the past with silver and blue, but I thought they got this straightend out.
I have heard of tree sap being a major problem on paint. Have you tried puting some bug killer chemical on your trees to keep the trees from bleeding? Go to a local greenery and ask them for something like this. Be careful when you put it on. Some places are very strict on the use of this stuff since it can kill birds also.

The truck has not been under trees with sap.The only time it might have been is at Fort Wilderness last July, but I don't think so.I park it near my house trees at least 30 yards away. The color is dark torreador (burgundy).
