How about it? I'd buy one! So long as they dropped the AWD part of the Denali package.

If the Denali isn't for you, what upgrades would you add to the truck to make it better?

I would be interested in buying one but would have to see the spec sheet first. Like you said the AWD part would have to go. I have an 07 AWD unit and I do not like its characteristics.

I don't really know how much of a market there'd be since the gasser retails for mid to high $50's. With the diesel option you'd be close to mid $60's, you're pricing yourself out of most peoples pocket books. I'd go buy a new Z06 corvette that get 24 mpg hwy for that kind of money.
I could do without the AWD, what good is a truck if you can't fishtail it?

My truck fishtails just fine in 4WD...

Just a simple 4wd like the other trucks have. That would be pretty nice. I hear you about the AWD. Not interested in that at all. GM has the AUTO function for the 4wd and that fine for that. My last SUV, 2004 Yukon Denali AWD had that, 2 weeks after I had it I got stuck on a slanted bank in a yard. The traction control didn't help. Needless to say I had to get pulled out. But since I was stuck, I made it worth my while, yup she got very dirty.:D 250 miles on it and it looked like a pig. But I would not have bought it if I'd know that it would get stuck like that. Silly me for not doing my research. But $6,500 in rebates made me forget.:o:

I don't know if I would go for the Denali, but I would like to have the SLT package and 4 wheel drive. About the only difference is the chrome, wheels, AWD, and in the gassers it is a 6.2 instead of 5.7.
Unless they up the horses on the 4.5 model, it wouldn't be worth it.

After my initial post I was thinking the same thing. The real advantage to the Denali is the engine and transmission. The AWD system is nothing special for sure. With a 4.5L there wouldn't be an advantage at all because even if the wick was turned up a bit on the Denali it wouldn't be with hard parts but with the tune.

I havent had any issues with the awd yet. maybe key word is yet. I even went up a mountian in Luray VA with it. not too mudy but rocky and really steep in places.

I haven't has any "issues" as far as breakage but I don't like the way it transfers power to the front diff in slippery conditions. Works great on the pavement.

Not much difference between SLT and denalli. I've been checking because I'm making a dually clone(check garage). The only thing I see different is steering wheel and radio does not have wood. Oh and the badges. You want the power then the 6.2 or anything else doesn't compare to the 6.6 duramax. You can get a truck like this for $50,000, why pay $60,000 just cause it says denalli from the factory. Denalli's used to have better leather but now is the same so if I were to upgrade anything else it would be denalli seat covers with denalli emblems.

As a new denali owner I have to post on this one. The AWD is something I said no way to a couple of years ago. But it works so well in all conditions, I am sold. It is much better than my Yukon in auto mode. Completely differant tcase.

MY wife drives a SLT Yukon new and as far as leather and fit and finish the Denali is ahead in my opinion. Can you make one (sure). But there is a ton of little things you notice once you drive one.

For you guys that are not thrilled with the AWD you need to spend a little more time in one.

i love my denali. i even love the quadrasteer when i use it. the all wheel drive does get to me but i am also in the bronx 5 days a week for school. over all i cant beat the price i pad for the truck and how nice of a truck it is.

scott2500hd, I like the Denalli all the way except the chrome door handles. I just can't get one in a truck with a longbed that has the power to pull my stuff. I like oem look so I am making a denalli dually(best of both worlds). I went to the dealership and the denalli had the same leather as my slt. The only little stuff I could see different were wood on radio sides and the steering wheel. Probably more mechanical differences than 1500 but I have a 1 ton and need it. Any other differences that I could change to be more denalli like I would love to know. pm me thanks

One of GMC's head developers said a Denali version in a HD application is coming. Sure most here know that, but it looked really nice in the pics at the auto show. Something to go up against a King Ranch. The AWD in my Escalade isn't that bad, I think the new AWD system is different, though, so I can't comment. The Denali truck is one of the best looking trucks out there, IMO. Chris

All that gaudy chrome, fake wood and the Denali grille are enough to turn me away from a Denali. I bet the price will be topping $60K with the 4.5L diesel engine.

I would drive one but I agree an SLT Loaded up we be better in the end. Overall fuel economy seems to be a little worse on anything awd.

Im a Denali fan boy to the core. I have a Denali front clip waiting on paint to throw on my truck. Im basicly planning to have a Denali Sierra w/ a dmax in it by the time all is said and done (chopped frame to accomadate the shortbed and yes even ditching the DRW)

But personally the only GMT 900 i can stand is the Denali Sierra. If they out the baby damx in one of those less the AWD system id definitly have to say that would be my next truck.

i wouldnt buy the denali cause of the price, i dont care much for the lux's. i would for sure buy a crew 5.5box allwheel drive sport, kinda like a new silverado ss but crew cab and painted bumpers. i dont used my 4x4, and need all wheel for in the winter, the 4.5 for mileage

There was a prototype Denali 2500 duramax at the Denver car show last spring. Have not see anymore on that. The only thing I liked was the grill and 20" stock wheels.
