Everyone's got opinions. I have a 4" MBRP straight pipe and I'm happy with it. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the brands our vendors carry. MBRP and Silverline come to mind (I'm sure there are others though).

There is no best exhaust system. They all pretty much do the same thing.

BEST is a matter of opinion. There are several to choose from all with different options, materials, and size. Are you looking for aluminized or stainless? 4", 5", or duals?

Hey unit453 glad to see you online. I have the same truck as you in blue and bone stock. It is going in for a PPE programmer and MBRP exhaust in the am. I am torn between cat back and full length exhaust. I would go full length but I am concerned about warantee being voided. I figure with the cat back I can just put the stock program back in and then no problem at dealer. But ... the little devil on my other shoulder is saying just chuck the kitty! How much flow / egt temp loss do you think I will be missing out on if I only go cat back? Do you ever have temp trouble with the cat back set up?

I went with Flo Pro 5". All stainless, downpipe back (advertised as turbo-back), with muffler, polished tip for under $500 and I love the sound. I just added a Diamond Eye downpipe to it.

I went with the BullyDog 4" stainless exhaust system. I like it so far but it is not too loud. It runs good with my BullyDog PMT.

"Saywhat", do you have that exhaust? I see that you tow a trailer....how does it sound while towing, any cab drone? That is the exact exhaust I am looking to buy.

If your truck is up north were salt is used on the roads, S.S. might be a better idea.
I live in sunny socal but I could not see taking off a stock S.S. exhaust and instaling a aluminized system.
I have not done to many mods to my truck, but my favorite one is the exhaust, I love the way it sounds.

Grey Steel;Getting ready to order that exhaust soon, others have posted no cab drone as long as the cat is left in place. As far as aluminized vs. ss;my 02 was run 5 winters here in the saltbelt and looked almost like new when traded off,the muffler and tailpipe are aluminized from the factory. If you get 409 SS its gonna look like crap, thats what the factory uses from the downpipe to past the cat.304SS looks really good but is too spendy for me.

I'm all about saving money! I think I will go with the cat-back aluminized 4". Something that sounds good outside of the truck, not inside... Also getting ready to buy the Banks 6-gun with speedloader......(what was I saying about saving money?)

Grey Stray you should talk to Kyle at Crankitup diesel, not sure how close he is to you but he's in Ohio. He could probably custom tune your truck with EFI Live with a DSP5 switch (5 selectable tunes) for less than the Banks will cost you, and then your tuning is limitless. Or you could buy EFI Live from him or another vendor and get a free tune. Where i got my Flo Pro it was $440 for a full 5" kit and it's not loud and doesn't drone inside but sounds awesome outside - and it's stainless.
