: 3 1/2" opening for hitch???????????
HeavyHD 03-25-2008, 07:39 PM I was looking through the rules for the ts outlaw pull and your hitch has to have a 3 1/2" opening for the hook. Thats nuts Ive never seen a ring that big nor can I find a lunette ring that big. Anyone have any ideas? Also I am looking for a place that will sell parts that will slide into my 2.5 opening on my towbeast. Any good sites out there?? Thanks a ton guys! Chris
jp130 03-25-2008, 08:14 PM billet, made one from 4140. my buddy uses a clevis . both meet nwdpas rules for this year
jneal 03-25-2008, 09:55 PM Just buy a 3" opening lunette and have it machined out to 3.5in. Drop it off at the shop and I'll get it done.
SledMax 03-25-2008, 10:00 PM Or just get he grinder out.
HeavyHD 03-25-2008, 11:44 PM Where can I find a lunette ring at with a 3" opening? I have a machine shop here in town that will machine it out but all I can find are 3"od. Wait..Jerrod. Is your truck gonna be in the shop sat?? :D
House 03-26-2008, 03:24 AM sleds went to bigger chains and hooks this year to handle all the increases in power
jneal 03-26-2008, 07:25 AM YOu should be able to get it at any good trailer sales/parts dealer.
Blitz636 03-26-2008, 11:41 AM It takes sharp tooling and lots of coolant JNEAL, those rings are typically forged for they're hard as hell. Grinding the ID is next to impossible SledMax, been there done that. The best way to get a 3.5" ID ring is to have one machined like jp130 suggested.
Just my $0.02
HeavyHD 03-26-2008, 06:55 PM Ok then. Next question where would I find a place that would machine a billet one??

Duramax Post 05-07-2008, 09:57 AM you need to find a place with a flame table its like a big torch they cut mine. it was 1.5 thick
Joey D 05-11-2008, 08:15 PM http://www.ford-tractor.us/clevises-7499-prd0.htm
Will this work?
jneal 05-11-2008, 08:53 PM For most hitches a twist clevis will not work due to the "hook point must be horizontal to the ground" rule. But yes a regular clevis will work because that's what I use.
