Is there a specific date that non-winter blended fuel starts hitting retail again?

I'm just wondering how that works and whether it would be posted at the stations..

Anyone know?

I know the stations I stop at around here didn't post when it changed to winter blend so I don't expect anything when it changes again. I'm figuring I'll notice the change when my mpg really starts to climb again.

It will very by location. Fuel suppliers commonly use local weather date to estimate when to stop adding #1 or a addative to reduce the cloud point.

The adding of either #1 or the addative adds cost and reduces profit so they will stop as soon as they can.

Often the counter person does not know whats in the tank at a fuel supplier.

Hope that helps you.

I wondered the same thing. Here in Florida i would imagine there is no winter fuel or is there?, but what about a trucker that lives up north but comes down here for a delivery and gets our fuel to head back up? Is it going to jel up due to not being a winter fuel or have problems? how does the fuel issues work?

A semi sized truck wouldnt make it to far north before refueling again. Also most truckers think about this stuff ahead of time and add anti-gel to fuel from warmer climates when headed north.

I know the pumps in wisconsin are starting to change over. Filled up today with regular diesel, no more winter blend.

I think the station I filled up at late yesterday is on summer fuel. Reason being is with my scangauge the truck was averaging 12.3 mpg before fueling and today on the same route I've been traveling all week, the scangauge read 14.9 mpg.
Tomorrow I'll check again the mpg's to see if their the same as today.

Colorado is on the spring blend and summer blend is May 15th if it comes from the local refinery..which a big chunk do.

I think we start seeing it between now and 4/15... I hope. Haven't seen a mpg increase yet but since I fill up every 3 days, I'll know soon. Usually adds 1 to 2 mpg.

I filled up Tues 4/1 (at 4.09.9 sheesh!) and I don't see much of a mpg bump so I think we're still on winter blend. I'll fill up tomorrow (4/4) AM and see. At least this one will finally have Silver Power Service in it which is always good for about +1 mpg. Will post when I know by next Tues or so

We stopped winterizing last week here in SW MIchigan.

The station owners and employees typically have no clue. We do the thinking for them on winterization. Bad fuel always comes back on us, so we play safe.

I haul the stuff up In Chicago area, Citgo and Mobil won't display when they change, but at Marathon, we have to punch in the blend #'s and as of last week, I haven't blended it down. So Marathon for sure up by me is strait #2. Hope this helps,

Pulled in at Murphy this AM and the winter stickers were off the pumps. The guy that does the pump maint. there is a trucker I've talked to who knows his $hit. Still I figured that won't make any difference. Rain could have knocked 'em off. Filled up and DIC was showing 15.7 which actually calculated to 17.75. As soon as I drove out I KNEW it was summer blend. You can just feel it in performance per given throttle position. Sure enough, 60 miles later DIC shows 16.8. 'Bout time!
