: Stock 2006 LLY..Chip/Tuner Recommendations
Zorba 03-25-2008, 11:32 AM Other than 265/75/16 tires i have a stock 2006 LLY. I need some recommendations on which chip/tuner to purchase. I am leaning toward an EDGE EVO but i can be swayed. Also, once said tuner is installed what other mods would be recommended.
I will be towing a 10,000lbs boat if this makes any difference.
Thanks for any insight

LWATSON 03-25-2008, 08:05 PM PPE economy or standard and a transgo jr. Or Predator and transgo jr. I've used them both and was very pleased with both.
saratoga 03-26-2008, 04:13 PM Another member here let me borrow his Hypertech Max Energy... really, really smooth power and did pick up a slight increase in MPG at the higher setting. My truck is the exact same as yours BTW.

jixxer 03-28-2008, 07:27 AM T S performance mp-8 module, 100 hp 200 ft/lb, I gained 3mpg. It is adjustable on the fly.
Zorba 03-28-2008, 08:12 AM Thanks for all the replies guys. Any other mods you suggest... Exhaust? Blocker plate or can i get by with just the programmer
Hypertech 03-28-2008, 09:53 AM I know I'm a bit biased, but since you said you're going to be towing a 10k lb boat I'd just like to point out that with Hypertech's Max Energy you can tow your boat in stage 3, which is our highest power stage and not have to worry about your EGTs.
4WARNED 03-28-2008, 10:09 AM PPE Economy set to level 2
90hp gain, 2-3mpg, proven, smooth reliable power!
I set a local guy up with the same thing and he absolutely loves it.
Hypertech 03-28-2008, 10:36 AM Here is a dyno graph so you can compare stock vs the three stages of Hypertech's tuning.
Stage 3 +95 HP & +175 TQ

LWATSON 03-28-2008, 12:47 PM Darnell, I've heard good things about the new Hypertec but haven't heard any openions on the defuel. How does it compare to the older Hypetec programers?

Stock the trucks defuel at the shift and since we are increasing the power we believe it is in our customers’ best interest to leave it that way. Now as far as EGT defueling there is none of that because we don't over fuel and in return create high EGTs. Now talking about the programmers the two biggest differences between the Max Energy and Power Programmer III are their sizes and the fact that the Max Energy is internet updateable.
LWATSON 03-29-2008, 04:11 PM Thanks for the info. I have friends asking about different programers all the time and did'nt have any info to offer on the Hypertec. By the way wich is faster the Dmax's in your sig. or the Lightning? Got a guy around town with a stock one, he keeps picking at me:)
rhinolite 03-30-2008, 01:44 PM Does the Hypertec max energy add boost?
BKDespain 03-30-2008, 02:11 PM I ran Hypertech on my '05 and was really happy with it. Smooth and strong power. EGT's were never out of control. I ran stage 3 and pulled 10k+ and never had any problems with the tranny or egts.
