: Got my PPE yesterday
txjeep 03-25-2008, 10:54 AM First thing I have to say is that when the manual says to put the key in the "run" position, it does not mean the "accessory" position :badidea: . The run position is the second position, acc is the first position. The prgrammer will come to life in the acc position, but it won't load a tune. You will wait forever and nothing loads. Then the truck won't start. I did a search on this site and figured out the problem, returned truck to stock, then tried again with the key in run. All worked fine after that. Also, it only takes a minute or two to load a tune, so don't wait 20-30 (like I did) to realize you have done something wrong.
Second thing I have to say is WOW :D . The PPE really woke up my LBZ (Tune 2). I was never really impressed with the power from the beginning. It was okay, but not what I would call impressive. I figured it was because I have been driving a 400HP Corvette for the last 18 months and was spoiled. Well, this truck is a beast now. I want to load tune 3, but I figure I better not do that until I get some tranny work done..
I'm still taking it easy for the most part though, because even after 60 miles (mostly hwy), the tranny does not seem like it has figured out how to shift yet. It is a lot better than it was after loading the tune, but it is not quite right yet.
Oh well, so much for no mods!

im on level three tune 160 hp stock trans seems to shift fine it has good power but i was hopeing for more seat of the pants feel maybe it takes time lol
LWATSON 03-25-2008, 08:10 PM txjeep, your tranny will learn just fine. Do as many stop and go's as you can and drive in tow haul a few times through the gears that seems to help mine learn a little quicker.

Your on your way. Pretty soon that 7000# truck will be out running that corvette. :D
Along with the stop and go driving. Do some runs threw all the gears at 1/4,1/2,3/4 throttle. enjoy
txjeep 03-25-2008, 10:49 PM Thanks for the tips. I'll try them out.
ripmf666 03-29-2008, 06:00 AM The power takes over you wallet after time lol

Try level 6, it realy bumps up the wow factor.
Reset the trans. Your transmission will learn in 20 stops n go.
The Trans. will not learn anything on the freeway.:D
txjeep 03-29-2008, 09:45 AM I only have the standard PPE with 4 levels. I may bump it up to level 3 though and just be easy on the tranny. The tranny is shifting great now. It just needed a few more runs through the gears. Thanks again for all of your input. This site has been a lot of help to me.
turbo4show 03-29-2008, 05:40 PM Just installed my 5" MBRP exhaust and PPE today. I just went for level 1, but I think level 2 or 3 will be in by tonight.
Vey impressed with the set up so far, but you know how long that always last...
JC PAINT WORKZ 03-29-2008, 06:47 PM just wait... you'll think the level 3 is boring and you'll be wanting more... trust me.. lol i have had it on 3 totally forgot what stock even felt like.. now i want more.. i put it on 4 for 2 days and wow.. i wanna go higher but i returned it to 3 until i get a tranny.. not worth fuggig that up
txjeep 03-29-2008, 08:46 PM Tune 3 is in. Big difference. The tranny seems to be learning this one a lot more quickly. I am going on a 200 mile road trip tomorrow, so I want to see what sort of fuel economy I can get on this tune. Tune 2 wasn't good for much extra mpg, but hard to tell with all the headwinds I have been fighting lately.
