: Would like DIC MPG figures for STOCK 2005 D/A (Please)
skoryaro2 01-31-2005, 10:43 AM I don't have the DIC option on my truck. For my records, I'd like to know what the different MPG's are at different speeds as per the DIC readings on a STOCK 2005 truck while NOT towing, just cruising.
Could someone please take the time to jot them down and post them for me??
I'm interested in the 2005's, but 2004.5's would be interesting also to compare.
MPG's (Per DIC) @ MPH on a stock truck
1)______ MPG's @ 40 MPH
2)______ MPG's @ 45 MPH
3)______ MPG's @ 50 MPH
4)______ MPG's @ 55 MPH
5)______ MPG's @ 60 MPH
6)______ MPG's @ 65 MPH
7)______ MPG's @ 70 MPH
8)______ MPG's @ 75 MPH
9)______ MPG's @ 80 MPH (this is the fun one :) )
Thanks in advance
BK Tool 01-31-2005, 11:07 AM I don't think you'll get much of a responce. The MPG readings from the DIC update rather slowly. It might take a day or two sometimes for mine to read any differance. But for the most part they are pretty close to the hand calc. I also do. So I think it would be quite difficult to fill in your form.

Thanks for your response. Not having the DIC, I guess I misunderstood how it works. I thought the MPG's were displayed immediately while driving so that it would be as simple as going the different speeds and writing the data down while driving.
mikeh 01-31-2005, 12:26 PM between 55-70mph im getting 17.5 to 18.3 on my dic with my 05 cc dually ally tranny. past 70 mph it dont look too good for my readings
Thinkmoto 01-31-2005, 12:34 PM 17mpg all day with my 05 GMC D/A:(
miniwally 01-31-2005, 01:17 PM I think you will have a hard time coming up with hard numbers for speed vs mpg for two reasons.
I have seen posts on this board of people bragging about 20 + mpg driving 80 and also people saying the more realistic 14 or so mpg at 80. I guess it's all in the eye of the beer holder.
The other is I have seen on my truck what the difference between driving "Upvalley" vs "Downvalley" milage. I reset the DIC on the trip upvalley and drove on cruise set at 1 mph over posted speed limits. I saw milage at 18.6 mpg. pretty good. Coming downvally I did the exact same thing with speeds and such and saw 25.5 mpg. Speed limits are anywhere from 65 to 50 Mph.
This upvalley vs. downvalley is probably a 2,000' elevation change in 26 miles.
One thing that I have noticed is that speed makes a large difference. Every five mph drop is probably a 1 to 2 mpg gain. From 50 to 80 mph.

That's kinda what I was curious about. Thanks!
aka108 01-31-2005, 04:37 PM All I am able to add is 17.8 to 18 mpg on interstate at 70 mph. In town 16.3 mpg on the DIC. Traveling on the interstate the DIC instant will read anywhere from 6 mpg to 99 mpg, ie going up or going down grade. Steady travel over 70 and the mileage starts going down pretty fast.
BaddAssDURAMAX 01-31-2005, 08:15 PM my fuel milage blows. yesterday i got 13 at 60-70mph pulling an empty 18' skidloader trailer

That's all I'm getting around town not pulling anything!! Truck has 3,500 on it now, I hope it get's better.
hals73 02-01-2005, 12:17 AM Just filled mine up yesterday. 17.4 in town back and forth to work..... Hypertech on level 2!!!
driveawedge 02-01-2005, 12:41 AM I'm now up to about 13.5 mpg around town after the reflash. I set the cruise at 70 on trips and get about ~17mpg. I haven't been on the highway much since the reflash so we'll see if I get the 2mpg bump there that I got around town. To get into the 20mpg range, I have to back the cruise down to 60-65 which I just don't have the patience for on long trips.
I think in town has a lot to do with your town. In San Jose, I spend a lot of time starting and stopping and very little time on expressways. I suspect others get to maintain a steady 35-40mph for more than 200 yards which is a treat not the norm around here.
SUMMITMAXLLY 02-01-2005, 12:57 AM I think the 2005 models do not have the instant economy feature that is in the DIC on the 2004 model and earlier. Average figures for mine are: 22 mpg @ 50 mph; 20 mpg @ 60 mph; 17 mpg @ 70 mph. Never try a constant 80 mph, but if I had to guess, it would be about 14-15 mpg. As usual, your mileage will vary, pending the headwind, terrain, and of course, your lead foot.

Looks to me that you have to stay in that 60-65MPH range to see something above 17MPH. I haven't been able to get above 17.5 but I was setting the cruise at 70 MPH.
Thanks for the responses!
