Simple question. Can it be done on a 95 6.5 turbo?

Yes. Kits are available from most diesel shops. I have one on my truck.

in reality here, what good does it do for you, and how/when would it be used?

From what I have read, it can be used in a couple ways. One is to constantly inject just a little to get a more complete burn during normal driving. I understand that this results in about 4mpg increase, but then you also have a propane bottle to fill. Another way to use propane is on demand. This seeing as propane acts somewhat like NO2 in a diesel, you can use a more agressive "shot" for limited durations for an increase in power. Sounds attractive, but you have to bear in mind that if something isn't quite right while on propane, just like Nitros Oxide your chances of catastophic failure increase 10 fold.

I've got a few guys running the Powershot system. The key is not to get carried away. The Powershot is a nice simple system. The only electrical need is the bottle feed shut off/system arm. The rest is regulated by turbo boost.

When used as a performance "step up" and not your single all out means for big power, it's fantastic. It really smooths out the engine and brings it to life. Use it conservatively and it will give you many years of better than stock performance.

I was thinking more along the lines of increased milage. Diesel prices here have dropped to 1.89 a gal. I can buy propane at the bulk plant @ 13.00 for a 20lb tank. I thought if I could figure out expected milage increase I could decide if the extra money on the kit and the hassle of filling a propane tank was worth it.

If you are doing it for extra milage its not worth it. For the extra power its great and on a stock 6.5 it will give you about 35hp. I have ad the Power Shot on mine every since I started selling them a couple of years ago. Have sold several to guys with 6.5. As for propane at $13 for 20lbs thats expensive. Should be able to get it for about 1.80-2.00 a gallon which would be about 8.00 a bottle.

It increases milage some but not a whole lot. Not enough to buy it for that. I got my kit from Greg and out of all the stuff available for the 6.5, not much in the rwhp dept., it will give you an honest 30-35rwhp gain. Thats in my own dyno test as well so not a sales pitch. I think I pay 7 bucks to have the tank filled.

Can't medical grade can only be purchased my a health orginization. For that very reason. The normal NO2 that you get for cars has a very small amount of sulfur to discourage "huffing"

Yes but I can still see some joker doing it though... If I remember correctly sulferdioxide...

Heck, you can get it at any Grateful Dead concert or festival http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Either that or get a case of "Whip it's" from a restaurant supply place and get *really* fast on the bottle change http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rockon.gif
