If it dumps as much fluid on the ground while racing as it does on the pulling track, you probably won't get a full pass in it.

Who is chasing you down the 1320 with a fire extinguisher?

All I can say is make a few shake down passes first, it is not worth getting hurt over. I only say this because you are new to drag racing and racing that truck and that truck is making some power.

Glad to hear it. Hopefully you will make a bunch of our events. There will not be much time to cut the grass this summer with all the pulls and races!

Are one mechanic has done his share of drag racing and he will be doing the racing.

That sucks, you don't even get to drive your own truck it's first time down the track. :o:

I have found that you can build one or the other........A racer or a puller.

What do you want to be? :o:

i would do a couple shakle down passes.. is 1/4 1/2 3/4 power then WTF open... so he can get used to the truck.. no sense in getting into a bad situation like what happedn down in FL few weeks ago...

shoudl be LOW 11s if you get the shifts right abd the power to the ground or faster;)

might be able to catch mcrat:eek:

Wrongway was the one that crashed. Video- http://www.nhrda.com/0315/Vid.htm

from the drag racers i showed this too.. 90% of the comments were as follows, too much truck for driver, incorrect chassis setup, too much truck for track conditions, and glad he walked from it...

this has spark a slew of thread on various boards and the current. sugjestions are to make current role bar setup more stringent that they currently are

8000 lb trucks running between 91 - 104 MPH need a bar. 104 to 123 needs an 8 point, NHRA certified cage. Over 123 and the basic NHRA 8pt cage likely won't cut it.

6000 lb trucks running between 105 and 120 need a bar. 120 to 142 needs aan 8 point, NHRA certified cage. Over 142 and the basic NHRA 8pt cage likely won't cut it.

Im TOTALY for the Safety part of the rule. I've been on my head @ 120+ in my sprint car, and it's not fun (get's quiet, slow and hurst like a MF'r). I think they are going to loose alot of trucks @ the track though. How many people are actually going to put a bar/8pt cage in a street truck? unless an external bar in the bed is good enough. I think it's going to move alot of trucks out on to the street racing scene IMO.

That is wild. Those slicks look like they can get you sideways in a hurry, and hard to recover from when you do.

if they are worried about roll over then a basic hoop would work all it has to do is augment the existing sturcture..... and keep the CG down as well

Thats a bad deal my driver has done alot of drag racing in his day. He will be making test passes around home to get a feel for the truck.

When the rear kicks out to the left and points the truck toward the near side wall he:

1. Chops the throttle

2. Yanks the wheel one hard throw to the left. His front sport tires respond like he's racing an Indy car, pointing the truck to the far side wall.

The truck does this:

1. Low psi slick quit spinning and hook like they are glued to the track. The sidewall flex delays the "hook" of the tire long enough for him to have the front of the truck pointed almost straight.

2. The rear tires sidewall fold over the opposite direction the throttle chopping burnout had them facing and veer the truck toward the far wall. He is out of control and only along for the ride at this point.

3. Truck hits wall and somehow sticks the pump or throttle wide ****ing open! The left front wheel and all the suspension crush from the impact of the wall and turn the truck back toward the near wall.

Did I mention this truck had the throttle stick WFO from a frontal impact? It was either driver error or mechanical error....either way...this is very unsafe however you look at it! The impact should have shut that truck off!!!

4. Under FULL POWER...the truck drag races across the track and plows through the near side wall...becoming air born....and landing sideways under FULL POWER slinging dirt in the air and flipping over. While in the air and rolling over UNDER FULL POWER the underside of the truck hits a telephone pole and pushes it over. The truck then lands UNDER FULL POWER and lurches forward another 20 feet before a stroke of luck shuts down the motor.

Had the motor not actually died at that point....it might still be runaway at the track killing innocent bystanders.

Two lifesaving behaviors at the race track:

1. Know how to control your truck.

2. Be sure your safety equipment works well enough that you don't put yourself and others in danger.

600 or so passes on the 1/4 mile for me driving a Dmax. I've felt very safe on every pass so far, but that video has me thinking....I'll still not put a cage on my everyday driving truck, too dangerous for the kids and myself as we don't wear helmets on the street.

I'll slow down if the rules make me, but I'll not put a cage in my street truck.

Thats freakin scary, sucks though considering when i put slick on with the new cp3 pump and spay i am probably gonna need a cage. And i already need a bar according to those standards.
