How can i make it louder? Can i take that black plastic cover that connects to my airbox and says 6.6 on it off? Will this make it louder, how about a new intake, will this work also, what are your all opinions?:help:

as far as I know the best way is to get an AFE Stage 2 intake. I asked this same question a couple months ago and the overwhelming response was AFE Stage2. some say an aftermarket exhaust helps too, but I cant afford either so let me know how it goes :grd:

An air intake is about it. You can pull the space aged tin foil from the fender to help get more air. This is not going to be much more noticiable though.

You can take it off and find something to plug it, but I've done it and there is not much gained by doing so. In other words, don't waste your time unless you like the looks of your engine bay without the resonator.

i have both afe stage 2's with metal pipe and plastic pipe. The plastic uses the turbo silencer and its as quiet as factory.The metal tube doesnt use the silencer and its 3 to 5 times as loud as factory. Oh and this is on a lb7:D

i took off the black cover for the engine, and their is no real difference in sound. I put it back on because it says 6.6 turbo diesel on it, and whenver i open my hood people are like, this is turboed??

What I have found.......

Swisscheesing the stock box gives a little.
AFE stage 2 gives the most.
Exhaust helps a little.
A box(the bigger the better) helps a little.
The resonator thingy dosnt seem to make much if any change(I removed it and didnt notice anything)
Removing the underhood insulation on my cowl hood made it a bit more noticable as well.

Edit:oh....and i removed the tin foil.....

were are the best prices on the AFE stage 2 kits at. And how much are we looking at for the kit.

AFE Stage 2 will probably run around 350-400~

i wonder why the newer stage 2 for the lb7 with plastic tube is so quiet? It sounds like a factory box. But if i put the older stage 2 with the metal tube then its back loud again.

I think most people think that they dont filter the dirt out well enough. The people on this site convinced me of that.
