I've got to put my Electronics together on my LMM and another thread got me thinking about my own layout...

I have the Garmin 276C. Drill into the dash or a Windshield mount? (the glass is so far away), hard-wiring? screw Garmin Automount into dash (hmmm)?
Valentine One, so HOT, what about hard-wiring this too?
Adding the Laptop mount and *** card, need Cig plug for power, but thinking would like to mount a large Inverter behind the back seat, for Surge protection (and other stuff) maybe.

I'm no electronic guru, but I'd like to set this up in my truck. There seams to be 12V wiring: above the mirror, right of the Trailer Brake Controller and in the Driver door(?).

Sincerely, James

You'll want to run a dedicated wire to the inverter.

There is a hot wire in the ceiling, I dont recall the amperage it is rated for. i imagine you can wire the garmin or V1 to it with no problems.

When we are taking road trips (like right now), I use a travel adapter with my Dell laptop. It has a cig adapter for using it in the car, and an adapter to use it on an airplane...and a regular adapter to use in a 110 AC outlet. It cost about $70.

What 3000 what Inverter are you runnning? Any issues with fan noise or heat from the unit?
I'm looking for the Cig adapter for my Gateway now.

I have a 1750 inverter under my rear seat in the center. I use it for tools and for the kids when we go somewhere. I ran a 3/0 cable from the battery into a breaker on the firewall, then ran it thru a hole in the firewall to the mount under the seat

I've been looking at Inverters and I found a 2000 watt that fits well, I'm looking into mounting under the seat on the back wall. I use the floor more than the seat, thanks for the suggestions. 3/0 cable under the carpet through the firewall... hhmmm.
