: Took the side moldings off
02RedWS6TA 03-22-2008, 06:34 PM Well seeing as it's spring time now I put my wheels/tires back on yesterday, took the side moldings off, and detailed the truck. It was full of little orange rust spots so it took awhile. Anyway, I was going to put the LMM style 2500HD badges on the outside seeing as I have one but went to ebay and saw they are about 60 for 2. I can wait till the truck plants go back to work and hopefully I can get another one ;) .
I will probably put the little "GM" badges on it for now since I have a bunch of those.
Anyway, on with the pics. I really need to get my handles, bumper cover, and airdam painted.

WhitetailAddict 03-23-2008, 01:06 AM Nice looking truck. I am planning to put the LMM style badges on my truck soon also. A few of my friends told me to remove the side moldings too, but my truck is black and I'm not sure how that would look.
Check Merchant Automotive, they had the LMM style 2500 HD emblems for $15 a piece.
sunfire 03-23-2008, 10:40 AM Nice looking rig....but how do you climb up into the cab and do you use a parachute upon exiting :)

lol, I'm 6'2 so it's not that bad. I usually just jump. I actually bought a set of Amp steps yesterday. Hopefully they are here before the weekend.

if you have a bunch of those GM badges want to get rid of three of them?
06SIXSPEEDMANUAL 03-23-2008, 08:10 PM Have you thought about getting the escalade door handles for it too???? IMO it would look good with the moldings removed:cool:

I have a bunch of friends asking me for these ones already. When I get some more I'll send you a PM.

Yes, I'm going to do something. It's hard to swallow that much coin for 4 handles though. I'm only 24 and just built new house so the truck is usually the last thing money gets spent on. I only bought steps because I hate jumping in it now. I made my g/f ride in it for a weekend and she finally saw what I was talking about and Ok'ed it.
jettech 03-23-2008, 08:25 PM I kept getting the small orange rust spots on my white 06 also.Do a search on rail dust. Microscopic iron particles get embeded in the paint during transport by train. Hasn't returned since I took the mothers clay bar to it.
How do those side mouldings come of and how hard is it,I hate waxing around them.

It's not from a train. None of them have been on a train since I've owned them. My last 3 trucks were all white, all built in Flint, Mi, and I ordered all of them. They all had the rust spots.
The side moldings just pull off. I just worked my fingers under a side and pulled them off. I used an eraser wheel to get rid of the tape lines, clay bared the area and then waxed it. You can still see a little color difference in the paint but only if you look for it.

MAX Attitude 03-24-2008, 12:12 AM Sweet truck. What part of MI are you from? You sure you want the nice wheels on yet?...they still salt the roads by me. I'm itching to put my wheels on but don't want a spec of salt on them!
godaddy 03-24-2008, 06:22 AM Take those 4x4 stickers off!

I'm from Saginaw. I'm guessing you got hit pretty hard friday night? We didn't get anything here. It's probably a bit early to put them on but my g/f is gone on vacation all week so I can drive her truck if I need to.
Take those 4x4 stickers off!
I thought about it but I like them. I think it might look to plain without them on there.
MAX Attitude 03-24-2008, 04:56 PM Yeah we got about 6 inches. I'm sick of it.
jackh 03-24-2008, 05:19 PM that looks good howd you remove it all?

ickman99 03-25-2008, 06:58 PM Truck looks sweet, you can just order white door handles off a suburban or tahoe if that is what you want. Looks real clean.
