Whats up I'm the new guy. Just wondering if anyone uses additives to your fuel? I read that its not recommended but was told that diesel tone boosts your centane rating. Also if i add it will it effect the dpf? thanks:)

What's up new guy? A lot of us use additives around here. It does lots of things, especially with this new crappy fuel! I used PowerService for a long time, but recently switched to Stanadyne. You will find an overwhelming number of people who use both on here and will swear by them. I had filter problems with the PowerService, so I switched. No more issues with Stanadyne.

Here's what it says on the bottle:
-Prevents Fuel Gelling
-Year round protection
-Cleans and lubricates
-Reduces fuel consumption
-Reduces Smoke
-Approved by manufacturer ** GM approved this one.
-For all injection systems

:) :) Hope this helps.

I have used Stanadyne since new. I have had not one fuel problem at all. I experimented with others, but I feel Stanadyne is the best. It should increase your fuel mileage a little. It should also be better for your DPF, by making the fuel burn and atomize more efficiently and cleaner, thus making for less regens. There is much to read on here for fuel additives. Good luck with your new truck, and welcome to the site! ;)

I use a lot of Scheaffer's products and really like their fuel treatments. If you can't find it locally Merchant Auto can ship to you.

I use Howes in my rig, as do many truckers and farmers. Basically b/c I don't feel like going out to find a Standadyne dealer in Nor-cal.

I've always said on additives..you can believe in life after death and if it happens good for you...if it doesn't what are you out?

I religiously use DIESELKLEEN summer and winter. You can get it in larger quantity jugs and save some $$$ - Wal-Mart sells it too !

Personally i have found the best way to protect your fuel system is to, now this is the important part you must think nice things and walk, no running and no looking at your truck, around twice and this way you will have aligned all the proper SPOCK induced Ions and your truck will run perfectly. I have been at this stuff for a lot of years and I have seen fuel systems with cow Magnets from one end of the fuel hoses to the other, all kinds of crap. Buy clean Fuel and keep it clean, If you have extra money, Put on a Davco 233 primary filter, or change your oil, earlier than required. Or the best thing you could do for your truck is Buy your lady some flowers and tell her you love her, You night get lucky. the best thing , if you can find it is B2 bio. The rest is BS. PLAY SAFE!

Where are ya'll getting Stanadyne from? I went by a Advanced and Auto Zone today and neither one of them had it. I picked up some Lucas but I don't really know anything about it so I haven't put it in the truck yet. Anybody use the Lucas stuff?

HAHA, WTF??? :wtf1:

By the way, I got my Stanadyne from merchant and diesel manor. Both are great sources, great prices, and fast shipping. I can sometimes find it in a diesel performance place...
