I'm looking to put an ATS Aurora 5000 turbo on my daily driver and would like to know what some of your opinions are before I do it? If its a good turbo or not and just general opinions about the turbo. Thanks, your help will be greatly valued.

Robby how about filling out your signature so we know more about your truck. If you search for LBZ and Aurora 5000 in the Fuel/Air section further down on the main forum list you might get a litle more help or you could ask a moderator to move this post for you.

Now to answer your question as much as I can with my limited knowledge on the subject. I think unless you have a fairly larger tune (PPE, EFI Live) you will have trouble with low rpm spool up. If you tow then this might mot be the turbo that you want as ATS doesn't recommend this trubo as a good towing turbo. More people are using a Garrett turbo like a 4088 or a ATS Aurora 3000/4000 as a good towing turbo. The Aurora seems to be a well like turbo for sled pulling and drag racing but it might be a little big for the street. With that said there are a few guys with a Aurora 5000 in there street trcuk that like it. Just do alot of research before you buy and know that with a turbo this big and the fuel to run it you are going to need to do several additional mods to your fuel system (lift pump) and a built transmission just to name a few.

I think if you will read in the performance section you will find some topics on this. I know there are some that have been using them with good results.

it's a great turbo, but, for a daily you wil need alot of fuel to make it driveable. i'm gonna do the 3k on mine, i don't plan on doing injectors just some agressive programming. what else are you doing w/ the truck?

Mine is absolutely fine on the street, even on a small tune. Yeah there is some lag, but it lights incredibly fast at 2200 RPM. I can spike 47 PSI and maintain 42 with a single CP3 and a junk lift pump.

I have a 4k and love it, great for all around if you don't mind a little lag. I guess it just depends on what you use the truck for. I make 40-42 psi with the 4k and you see the dyno results, stock cp3 and I also have a crap lift pump. The 5k is a beast! I would suggest the tranny before you even think about that turbo.
