Could someone explain injector balance rates?

From what I understand, the acceptable range is between
-2.4 to 2.4. I have one injector balance rate that is up around 4.0 and three others that range from -2.75 to -3.0. Is a higher postitive number indictitive of an injector stuck open? What do the lower negative numbers indicate? Optimally, do you want the injector balance rates right around zero?

Thanks for your time. I am attempting to educate myself. The truck will be going to the dealer soon as I have a real rough idle when the truck is in drive and the temp is around 185*.

Recheck the balance rates with a warmed up engine, idling in drive, foot on brake.

I have 5 out of 8 less than either a +1.0 or a - 1.0......the other 3 are 1 close to a +1.9 and two which are -2.0-3.50..........

My truck idles fine and runs fine...........

Maybe the actual techs can chime in with the Bosch Specs for the acceptable ranges.

Not a tech
LB7 in park -4 to +4, in drive -6 to +6
Not sure if the LLY is the same or not.

Thanks for the input. I checked the rates with a warmed up engine, idling in drive, foot on brake and they were more in range. One was around 2.5 and the other three were around
-2.0.

I pulled the -2.4 to 2.4 range from the Duramax Diesel Diagnostic Tips in the Do It Yourself forum. The post is dated 03.18.04 so I am not sure if it applies to LB7, LLY or both.

Thanks again, we will see what the dealer says about the rough idle.
