Anyone have the new Ottomind on their truck yet?? If so, how is it? Good power, mileage, egt's?

I have heard great things about the ottomind. A couple of friends of mine have it, along with some other Banks upgrades and it works safely and awesome while towing. I personally have the 6 gun because I got a great deal on it, otherwise I would have bought the ottomind. Even with the 6 gun, exhaust and air intake, I am very pleased with their performance while towing.

I have gotten similar mileage with ottomind as I have with the six gun. This is unloaded & I run a higher level with the ottomind then I did with six gun. I have heard towing it will be a big impovement. I will find out this summer. The ottomind keeps the temperature lower. Have not had one problem with it.

I have had mine on for 2 weeks. So far the economy mode seems like it is getting better mileage than stock but have not run through the whole tank to check yet. This is my first tuner so I do not know how to compare power. On level 6 the other day I beat a new GT mustang to 50 mph from a light. I still blow a little smoke on lvl 6, not dark but way more than ever seen stock. I will hopefully be hooking to the 5th wheel soon to see how that is.

A buddy of mine is looking at the Banks with Ottomind. Does it allow you to defeat the EGR or remove cat or is that not available from Banks?

The Ottomind will controll the EGR system for you when it's installed. It allows the engine to run cleaner with less smoke out put. The EGR code triggered by the removal of the cat can be cleared with the PDA but most trucks don't have that problem with this tuner.:D

Will the Ottomind block/prevent codes caused by using and EGR blocker plate?

it should, but the EGR blocker isn't needed with these tuners.

Why can't I see the Ottomind for the LBZ on the Banks website?

Here's the link. the specs are the same for the LBZ D-max engine:

Why does the Banks system use hardware that intercepts the ECM signals rather than just reprogram the factory ECM like most tuners do?

A tuning box, with the ability to monitor the engines functions, has a much greater ability to add engine safe guards. It also gives you the ability to change the power settings on the fly without having to reprogram the factory ECM. As an example, the Ottomind will not activate it's tuning until the engine coolant temp has reached around 170 degrees and the EGT's have reached 400 degrees. This prevents any damage to the engine by adding extra performance tuning to a cold engine, it also gives the tuner the ability to monitor and control EGT's on it's own. The EGT limit on the Ottomind is 1300 degrees.

Is there a towing weight limit on the Ottomind for the LBZ for each specific level of 1 thru 6? I ask because tuners such as the Superchips flashpaq only allow 6000lbs I think on their highest level and truck factory limits on their specific tow tune.

Just looking for a little more explanation of power levels that aren't in the manual.

This tuner is tow safe in ALL power settings.

What are the expected mileage gains on this tuner? Is there any gaurentee? I'd be interested if there was a payback at the pump.

How much are they for the LBZ?

Shoot me a PM with your phone number and I can get you a price (with your DP discount of course). The measured amount of fuel economy we got with the mileage setting on the Ottomind (level 2) was 10% better or about 2mpg over stock. That was on an LLY equipped truck with a combined truck and trailer weight of 22,000lbs. Several people in here are getting 3mpg or more with this tuner running empty. There is no way, however, anybody can gaurentee a mileage number increase due to the variations in drivers, terrain, temps and loads ect.

Is there any way to increase the EGT setting? Some people say that Garrett engineers claim you can run at 1400 easy. Also, do you have to use the PDA to monitor EGT's?

Jeff,

Is there a chart or something that tells what each level gives you over stoch HP and TQ? Like Level 2, it is the economy setting but is it more powerful than stock? And if so what kind of increase? Level 2 feels more powerful I am just curious what each level gives.

Thanks
