Looking for a good handheld CB Radio. Want to move it between work trucks and personal. Anyone have any experience with a good one? something with a bit more power - or at least adjustable to up the power?

Don't waste your time and money on a hand held CB. Take it from a trucker. Most are good for about 3/4 of a mile.

Get a pair of these. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/vertical-pod3.jhtml?id=0026872&navAction=push&navCount=4&indexId=cat130007&parentId=cat130007&parentType=index&rid=&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fpod-link.jhtml_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20712

I have a pair and they are good for 12 miles line of site distance. In the woods or in the city they work 4-6 miles. Very good. It comes with a vehicle charger also in the charger kit. It will be cheaper than a pair of hand held CB's too.:grd:

If you just want to listen you might be happy with a handheld CB. I doubt it. I have a Cobra 75WX and it's a good CB and it doesn't take up much room. You will need a magmount antenna. I plug mine into the lighter socket.

Never had a good experience with hand helds and I tried several before I put a conventional CB in our new Corvette.

They dont talk well and listen worse.

I tried a Motorola, Radio Shack and Uniden, none came close.

Do like some of the truckers do. Mount a conventional mount CB in a brief case that will hold your mag mount also. Use a cigarette lighter for power.
