I've been reading all the contriversy on using 2 stroke oil in your engine some say yes some say no
My question is why could you not use a veggie oil bought from the super market cheaper than 2 stroke and same stuff as a bio-diesel just a thought new to this and just a question

Well, veggie oil is cooking oil and not formulated for engine use. Vegetable oil is NOT the same as biodiesel, biodiesel has been processed from vegetable oil to remove the glycerine and is closer to #2 diesel fuel than it is to vegetable oil. It's polymerized if not processed into biodiesel and will not burn cleanly leaving ash and carbon as well as issues of not mixing completely with the fuel and raising the cloud point which makes it unsuitable for cold weather use. 2-stroke oil is formulated to mix with fuel and burn as well as specially designed to be "low ash" and leave minimal residue when combusted. There are folks running waste vegetable oil (WVO) and straight vegetable oil (SVO) in their engines, but they have to have heating systems to get the oil warm and most start and stop on straight diesel and then swap over to the veggie oil. As an additive for lubricity, I'm a 2-stroke man and have no desire to experiment with cooking oil.

Makes sense

I started using 2 stroke on my last tank of fuel haven't used enough fuel
to notice a diffrence yet only 1/4 tank plus the weather is starting to get alot warmer so can't really tell if its as loud as it was sounds quieter not sure I can't see what harm it could cause other than maybe a little carbon
get on the pedal every now and then to clean it out

Thanks for the quick reply I'll stick with 2 stroke oil and power service

I run 2-stroke and power service. Occasionally I'll put some veggie oil in if I have some left over in the kitchen. Usually not more than a few cups to a full tank of diesel. I only do it because I'd rather burn it than dump it off my deck...
