I am kicking around the idea of switching my 05 dmax over to synthetic oil, Is there much difference in mileage vs dino oil. And another thing I found interesting is I looked at the back of a synthetic rotella oil bottle, and it said in bold red letters NOT FOR USE IN 2007 AND LATER DIESEL ENGINES. So what gives, what would make a difference????

LMM or any other DPF equipped diesel requires CJ-4 spec oil.

If your switching to synthetic for mileage gains you may be disappointed. Used Delo 400LE (Dino) up to 5K. Mobil Delvac 1 ESP (Synthetic) put in at 5k and will continue to be the oil I use.

Ya, if you have a 2007.5 or newer, be sure to get the right one as mentioned. CJ-4 oils meet new emission specs.

I ran Mobil 1 in my LLY till about 20,000 then I switched to Rotella synthetic till 53,000...

Then at 53,000 I switched to Schaeffers Sumpreme 9000, I picked up 2-3 MPG when I switched to Schaeffers...

Now I have about 60,000 miles on my truck and its getting the best MPG since I have owned it...
