Well, my mechanic has switched the Pressure Switch Manifold and the NSBU/Park Neutral switch. Now he hints that the Transmission Control Module may be next, since the truck again went into full neutral mode at a stop sign. (After a restart it was fine and, for once, the "service engine" light did not stay on. It has been fine since, but I still leery.)
Am I being strung along? How difficult is this problem to diagnose? He sounds competent, and did my "transfer-case rubbin' a hole through it" problem for normal money, so I don't necessarily suspect intentional deceit. But, he seems a little perplexed by this problem, and I worry because he has actually put two PSM switches in trying to solve my situation.
How much is the TCM part? So far my guy (not a stealership) has marked up the other two switches about triple as far as I can tell, which I could swallow a bit easier if the problem was totally solved!
