A month or so ago I was having trouble with hard starting of my 98 1 ton dually diesel pick up. Also the starter would clicking when I turned the key for the first time and when I turned it again, it cranked over. I just wanted to thank everyone for their input and to let everyone know I solved both problems.
The hard starting was caused by 3 bad glow plugs in cylinders 4,6 & 8. Truck fires up is all weather now.
As for the clicking starter on the first start try, it was suggested to check all of the battery cables and electrical contacts. The ground wire contact nut from the starter to the starter solenoid was just loose enough to cause the problem. Took the started out and tightened everything down and now works like a dream. Thanks to all. I thought people out there with the same problems that I had would like to know the solution and maybe help them out. Thanks again to all who responded.
