I am currently thinking about installing a set of Clearance lights on my 04.5 2500HD. But I would like to see some more pictures of these trucks with them on it. So all of you that do have them please post a pic. I am also thinking about adding the three lights under the tail gate. If you have these please post pics as well and where you bought your lights if you didnt order your truck like that from the factory. Thanks!

I don't have the roof marker lamps, but I do have the rear clearance lamp under the tailgate. I bought it from gmdieseltech.com...http://www.gmdieseltech.com/store2/cart.php?target=product&action=view&product_id=16215&category_id=254

I would like to add the roof marker lamps also, but don't know if I want to risk water leaking through the roof. Don't know how common of a problem that is though.

Could the clearance lights also be called rear fog lights? Rear fog lights are required in Europe and this would be a slick way of adding these.
If I am totally off track please let me know what this light could be for.....

I'm actually waiting for mine to arrive by UPS. I bought them from autobarn.com.They are called High five running light kit. Runs for about 69.95 plus S&H . I'm told that the worst part about the install is removing the headliner.

This is tophog's excellent thread on cab light installation. Cab Light Install Guide (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4434)

Without his DIY, I probably wouldn't have had the courage to drill holes in my roof. :ro)

Mine don't leak, either.

How are these clearance lights switched on?

If I am thinking right they come on whenever you turn your lights on unless you wired it up to a switch that you turned on whenever you want to. RyanG thanks for the pictures they sure do look good!:ro)

You can also put put the old school 5 separate lights on them and they fit the roof contour just fine. I think they look better that way.

Yeah, I prefer the traditional 5 lights instead of the one larger middle one. Does anyone know where I could get a cool kit designed for our trucks that uses the five lights?

I did also but then seen a set of 5 individual lights on a '04 Chevy and they just didnt look right, looked out of place so I went with the stock set on mine, but in clear. Hope to get them on this weekend.

Can someone refresh my memory ... I don't remember the specifics of the lights and don't want to remove one to look. Can I swap just lenses if I bought the clear or smoked or is the entire light assembly one piece? You would think I would remember :) but don't. I like the idea of the clear lenses but don't want to have to redo the wiring or re-run wires thru roof just to get clear lenses.

Guess I should look before looking stupid :) Went back and found one of my picts in the article ...looks like the socket comes out of the light assembly so I should be able to just remove the plug/socket and plug into new lights. At least that's what I'm thinking ...

i put my own set on, i used the DIY thread mentioned above and everything went smoothly. I put a dab of silicone around each hole in the roof to seal out moisture. No problems thus far, after about 6-8 months.

Here is a pic of the clearance lights I installed. I don't like the big one in the middle either, so I went with that older style individual lights. I got them here.

The Recon lights are identical to the stockers and the High Five.

Wonder which style would look best on a white truck? I wonder what guys are doing as far as bulbs to get amber lights at night since the clear bulbs would be illegal in most states? If one used an amber bulb in a clear lense I would think it would make the lights look yellow thus defeating the purpose of the clear lenses?

Maverick

I would think you would just see a yellow spec in the lens like clear markers with yellow bulbs or DRL's with yellow bulbs. It would still look good.

Anybody know if they make replacement bulbs in yellow for the roof marker lights anyway?

I like the individual ones better. PepBoys had the gm set for $19.96 last week. Need to see if they still have them.

Does anyone know if smoke lenses are made to fit the stock housing or if the smoke lenses from the Recon lights will fit onto the stock housing? I do not want to have to replace the whole light if not necessary.

If I recall correctly, the light assemblies are one piece ...I.e. you have to unscrew them from the cab ...and the light bulb sock twists out of the assembly so you should be able to swap the complete light assemblies without having to redo the wiring. At least that's what I'm hoping. Of course you could unscrew one from your truck to be sure. The replacements are identical to the OEM and Pacer HiFive light kits from what I've been told.
